Hydrogen engines have for my entire life been "about to happen" just like cold fusion.

Show me a Civic or a Corolla or similar that's running Hydrogen and I'll accept it's arrived.

hydrogen will be more and more popular as the infrastructure is built. New engines dont burn the fuel, they use it to generate electricity.

The reason Toyota and Honda have been slow to release green vehicles is because of the report showing that if Japan switched too quickly to EVs the power grid would not be able to handle it.

If anyone wants something good to watch, check out American Primeval. Some of the best TV I've seen in years and not structured with a cliffhanger ending to preserve the chance for more seasons, like most shows nowadays. It was exhausting to watch and constant sad moments, but I thought it was really well done.

Hey kids! Hé les enfants! (as it used to say on the back of the Shreddies box). Where should I go in Ottawa to buy mid-quality skates that won't bankrupt me? Last time, I spent a fortune at some hockey experts-type shop (forget the actual name) because I figured superskates would make me skate like prime Erik Karlsson. They didn't.

Doubt I'll play beer league hockey again. When you're 30 or 40 every hacker, every scrub and every ankle skater plays. When you reach my age (er, closer to 70 than to 60) every guy who's still playing is a damn hockey player. That shit's way too intense for me. I was always more interested in the beer part of beer league than the hockey part, anyway.

So now I just want something for cruising the canal, being as it looks like we are actually getting a winter this year. Any recco's on where to get advice rather than than just a sales pitch before I buy? Thanks!

If you aren't picky about the brand, you can often find pretty steep discounts on last year's stock assuming they still have your size in stock. I think I got mine for about 60% off.

I got my last pair from sports experts on Innes, but I think they are permanently closed now,

We dont need to mine more copper. The meth heads keep us in steady supply. They find it like a pig and truffles.
Between reducing the usage, recycling existing copper resources already extracted, and switching to alternatives like fiber optics for tel con, or aluminum as a conductor when lighter weight is more important than better conductivity, we'll be fine.

Slow your roll. Dont be taking jobs away from hard working methheads.

They are. All replaced by sportchek...but sportchek was even more affordable than sports experts...or carried more affordable stuff... So sportchek is your best bet...or Canadian Tire for entry level.

I liked it too but give it a B+. I did not like the ending. I also did not like the changing of the story regarding the Mormon's massacre of the wagon train; the truth is a more interesting story.

If you are buying for kids, buy used because they grow out of them fast. If buying for yourself, consider used too as you might get an excellent skate at a low bargain price.

That's fair. The second point I've seen raised a lot, but I wonder how that would have played out with it being something that happened over many days instead of what we saw. Since it's only based on real events, but fictional otherwise, I'm okay with it. I did like that it brought some attention to some of the horrific past of the mormon's and religiously motivated tyranny and murder in general.

I did love the ending myself. It was heartbreaking, but I see enough happy endings to get me through and I kind of liked the heart wrenching end as a bit different than normal. Also the finality of it all and not being kept alive simply so that they can run more seasons like most series' are structured nowadays was a breath of fresh air for me. I actually like that it's a one and done mini series, presumably. With how dire things were in that era, I don't know that I'd believe they get some happy ending anyways, so if they'd sailed off in to the sunset, I assume peril and likely death are just around the corner anyways.

The ending seemed like a soap opera to me with extra drama added. I would have liked it more if the "event" just happened without the will he or won't he aspects. It seemed very contrived for the drama.

I watched Fauda and had the same feeling at the end of it. The ending seemed so fabricated that it was disappointing; just get it done realistically without the soap opera aspects (all touching hands). I liked the Fauda series.

I did really like Blackhawk Down because it seemed realistic.

I wasn't entirely sure what happened there. Did he change his mind or did he see that someone had followed them? Either way, I guess I can empathize with the conflicting emotions after his family, including his young child, was murdered. There's an element there of can you ever really start over or has the trauma destroyed your soul. Myself, I don't think I could ever dig out of that and would lean towards the latter and walk away. Then I might regret that and turn around. Hard to say I guess without experiencing what is a parents worst nightmare. Personally, I assume I'd have shot myself the moment I saw my wife and son laying on the ground and there'd have been no show to follow lol.

I'm not familiar with that one, but it's pretty common. I like a lot of these new Tyler Sheridan Paramount shows, but they're so meandering sometimes with constant melodrama with low stakes and I found this one more down to Earth with the dire tone and setting. It was how I would expect humans to respond to peril and tough circumstances. Survival kicks in with little empathy for others and one small group takes what little they have leaving a murderous trail of blood and another even smaller group dies fighting for what little good remains. That's why I don't bother with Apocalype prep, I'll just be shot and eaten by some group of Confederate flag bearing idiots anyways.

I didn't mind Black Hawk Down, but never really hit the spot for me the way it has others. Obviously well done, but a little too chaotic at times which is one of my least favorite movie experiences these days. I prefer humans interacting nowadays to the constant action stuff, or at least a good balance. Maybe I need to re-visit it though, it's been a while.

In American Primeval, I think he decided to go back to the woman and child to either guide them the rest of the way and possibly to California because he had nothing to go back to. I don't recall if he saw anything else to make him go back.

I also liked The Siege of Jadotville about Irish Soldiers on a UN mission to the Congo.
