Hoffman + Ceci for Nelson + DeHaan/Hamonic

Tavares gets his speedy high-octane offensive winger and Ottawa gets big bodied 2 way 25ish goal winger. Tbh this trade is on the condition that Ottawa moves Ryan for a guy like Eberle or another smallish winger and need Nelson for size/2 way play. Lemme know with the defender's value in consideration.

As an Isles fan I would do it.

Edit - For your original proposal of Hoffman for Nelson. Not so much with the added D involved.

Kinda off on the Senators part. Hoffman scores goals and Ceci is a decent defender.
Hamonic is good, De haan is over performing lately and will come back down.
Nelson is a decent second line player.
It is a good trade for fantasy points in a league but not in a actual NHL trade. Ottawa gets hooped.

Keep in mind a trade like this happens only on the condition that Ryan is moved for a smaller scoring forward like Eberle.

Easy no from the isles, Hoffman is LW and isn't enough of an improvement over nelson to warrant the trade. Nelson is pretty important to the isles playing 2c right now. Then Ceci doesn't fill a need and is a downgrade from Hamonic or Cdh. Would be really interested in Stone

Why? Ottawa is losing games because they aren't scoring goals. Trading Ryan for Eberle is fine, whatever. Offense for offense. Trading Hoffman for Nelson doesn't make any sense.

Stone is so far away from being available, he's not even worth bringing up, unless you want to start talking about Tavares (I know you don't.)

De haan is over performing lately and will come back down.

Over performing what metric is this based on?

When healthy; which he is. When not being jerked around the lineup; which he's not... this is exactly how he usually plays.

Another thing to consider is that de Haan is professionally inexperienced for his age due to time missed to injuries. So there isn't much historical context to say he's over performing.

The dude is great at up ice passes. Very skilled player. You know, there is a reason he was drafter 12th overall

Hoffman + Ceci for Nelson + DeHaan/Hamonic.

Not interested in dealing Hoffman and Ceci. Well, not for that package.

Hoffman has an elite skillset. Skating, stick handling and shooting. He can be an offensive dynamo when he is on his game. Wait a bit and once he gets going, you won't be wanting to trade him for a slower 40 pts forward (Hoffman is more a 60 pts forward, which is a significant margin). However Brock is a beast along the boards so yeah we really coud use him but not at Hoffman's expense.

Ceci is young and is about to blossom. He is already good, just has to refine his board work and play more with his instincts rather than his head (which makes him hesitate and overthink). DeHaan and Hamonic are good too but not needed. Hamonic is a RD but is not needed with Methot and Phaneuf aboard who are both shutdown and physical Top-4 D-man. DeHaan is a LD, a bit the same type as Wideman

Have been watching Nelson since day one, he is not a beast along the boards. Nelson does have a lot of skill but there is something missing from him that drives Isle fans nuts. Cant put a finger on it but sometimes he doesn't show up. Ceci is more or less a Pulock with more NHL experience. I would love Hoffman on our team though, kid can snipe but I feel like he is so fragile. Dehaan is a solid defenseman that has excellent value for this season cap wise.
