Alright, so Alfie is gone, and that sucks... a lot. You can't blame someone for wanting to finally win a ring at the end of his career. Personally I'd be happy if he got it, as long as the Wings didn't go through Ottawa to get there. I don't think he deserves to be booed or anything like that.

HOWEVER Alfie basically said that he didn't think we had a chance to win the Cup. It makes you wonder how long our fearless leader didn't have faith in his teammates around him. It's hard not to take that as an insult not just to the team but the whole city. Alfie of all people was essentially leading us all on.

I think that the team and we as a fanbase can turn this around though. It gives everyone in the organization a chip on their shoulder. A sense of something to prove to Alfie and every like minded person.

The Sens rallied behind the idea of the PeskySens last year. The thought that the Sens would take you by surprise and beat you. What better example of the PeskySens than the Montreal series. This year is different though. Now instead of playfully winning, we have to prove that we are a serious threat and that we won;t be taken lightly. We need to prove to Mr. Alfredsson that he made a big mistake to end his career.

I think that we should rally behind the idea of ChippedSens this year. Show the league that we have a chip on our shoulder and we're not backing down. Adding Ryan today is the perfect way to start. This year we will show the league that we are a real threat

I was holding off commenting on Alfie's move until I heard his interview. He doesn't owe us anything. 17 years and the prime of his career. That said, he quit on us. He quit. It isn't about money, he just doesn't think that team can win. If he wants to go off and try to win a cup as a second fiddle player for Detroit, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. Who knows if that Ryan deal happens with Alfie staying, but if he had stayed and we acquired Ryan AND we had a healthy year, personally I think we'd be on the edge of being a legit cup contender, stocking up at the trade deadline. He made his decision, see you later. Thanks for the memories. I think Ottawa will be a better team than Detroit next year. Better goaltending, better defence, dynamic first line (if healthy)
