Tough situation for him this year with Carolina not having an AHL affiliate for their prospects to play on. Really no incentive for the Blues to give this guy big minutes on the Thunderbirds and develop a prospect for another NHL team.

I, like others, thought this guy was a great pick in the 2nd rd. for Carolina back in 2019. Very strange what's happened this year. Hopefully he can produce with the B Sens.
His draft pick was part of the Karlsson trade. Some bad mojo

He was 5'10 and a 1/4 at the combine five years ago, so if he is 5'6 now that would be quite the trick.
Has to stay in the AHL. Players traded after the deadline are ineligible to play in the NHL for the rest of the season, that includes regular season and playoffs.
Ah yes, those players like DeBrincat, Giroux and Tarasenko who are known for their physicality instead of their ability to handle the puck.
why?
only 23, former 2nd round pick. produced in the AHL as a 22 year old. plays the right way.
the 6th round pick most likely has no better chance of being an NHL than Rees, only that Rees is more mature and closer to filling in.
Yikes only 172 lbs. Hopefully he skates fast and is extremely agile to avoid getting clobbered.
This looks like a Belleville signing to me to fill the roster due to the callups to the NHL.
