I really don't think there is room for him on the big club.
I thought he played ok during his call-up, but still do not see him more than just a call-up occasionally.
he's lost his waiver exemption.
it will be interesting to see if he makes it to bingo or someone takes a gamble on him.
Good signing, likely a Bingo player. I thought his career might be over after that knock out punch last yr. Up to that point he played fairly well & unless they move Smith to LW there could still be an opening on the 4th LW spot. I really don't like to see small players on our 4th line. It gives Ottawa some more size & muscle on the 4th line, DD is also a pretty good defensive player & is a hard player to play against. I wish him well.
He needs to learn how to fight. His best bet of sticking in the NHL at this point is if he can hold his own with some of the heavies of the league. Hopefully the Senators told him to go take boxing lessons in the off season.
I agree, he needs to work on that part of his game. But some time ago, I was arguing that Ottawa needed a heavyweight enforcer & of course most here took exception to that. But someone on here, it may have even been you, said that DD could take care of guys like McClaren & Fraser. Shortly after that fight BM went out & got Kassian who IMO has done his job very well so far. But I would like to see another tough guy in the lineup especially at the 4th line LW spot or Smith could move over to LW & they get a centre. DD did have a reputation of being pretty tough, I remember the Sens even bragged about it when they first signed him & he has had some fights in the AHL. Maybe someone who saw him fight in Bingo can comment. I think he did the wrong thing at the wrong time against an experienced fighter & paid the price. Even McClaren said it had happened to him before.
I like the idea of going after Gaustad for some obvious reasons, he is big, he is tough, he blocks shots, he hits, he is great at faceoffs & would improve our puck possession time significantly, he is defensively responsible & he is good on the PK. I doubt he would cost that much, I believe he is around 30 yrs old & he is a northeast divison veteran who would know what he is getting into.
Ya, I really underrated McLaren. I only saw a few of his fights and in them he didn't really come across as a big puncher like Orr or McGrattan. So I thought the biggest risk was that McLaren would simply land more punches than Dziuryznski, I guess I was wrong.

Also I like the idea of adding a bit more toughness to the lineup. Although the best option might just be to sign a heavyweight for Binghamton and bring them up for the few games where we may actually need some added toughness such as playing the Leafs, Flyers and Bruins. I read recently that both Yablonski and Gillies mutually agreed with Vitayaz of the KHL to terminate their contracts, so they are now free agents. I don't know whether they are going to stay in the KHL or head back to North America, but I would be interested in bringing either of them in on a two way contract.
