Suuuuure.Someone expected this Canadian team to win gold? I'm thrilled we have a shot at bronze lol.
In terms of not knowing Canada would walk right to the finals, yes. Am I disappointed Canada lost? Of course, I always want them to win. But this made things more interesting, for sure.
It's incredible how defensive some posts are.
So insecure it's almost painful
More exciting than watching this lineup?
Marchand Crosby Bergeron
Tavares McDavid Stamkos
Benn Sheifele Seguin
Hall Mackinnon Giroux
Kieth Doughty
Vlasic Burns
Subban Pietrangelo
Price
Holtby...
Yeah... No
Ok but did you enjoy the hockey less, just as much, or more from an entertainment standpoint?
Suuuuure.![]()
Winning silver when there are only two teams that can win is deflating.
I'm not sure what that has to do with this, or are you just trying to keep this women's thing going a day longer?
There is no better hockey outside the NHL.
Don't dismiss the fact of what happened at this and how the tourney would have changed.
Congratulations to Germany and go for gold!
Yeah, but the latter are obviously jokes. For every "We didn't have our best guys here" post there's a "This proves that Canada is not good at hockey" post.
Responding to the snarky “enjoy your silver Germany” comments. Don’t think it was too cryptic.
Fair enough. At least you aren't saying you expected to lose to GER. That would definitely not be believable. Not kidding, not sour grapes. When I saw the roster, if you'd told me we'd get bronze I'd be fine with that, still am. Although even bronze is a stretch, so if we don't medal at all, I won't be as fine with that.
That being said, losing to Germany obviously wasn't expected, but of all the teams to lose to, it's a great story. Now if we had lost to the US, I'd be pretty bitter
.
What’s meaningful for Canada now? World Cup ? Please..
Congrats Germany! You guys were the better team through the first two periods and deserved the win!
As a Canadian, I actually prefer the tournament this way - level the playing field and make each game interesting to watch! Would not be opposed to taking all professional hockey players out of the Olympics.
Also took a look at who Germany may be missing:
Draisaitl (PPG NHL forward), Rieder and Kuhnhackl (depth NHL forwards)
Seidenberg & Holzer (No. 6-7 NHL dmen)
Greiss & Grubauer (serviceable NHL backups)
Would be disingenuous to say they weren't also affected by the NHL ban, but they're probably only really missing Greiss & Draisaitl... Canada missed 23 players...
Defend the Motherland!!To the Germans... defend against the Russians like its spring time Berlin, 1945.
It's saying more about OAR than it is about Germany.
