They were favored but not by much if you watched how Germany played against Sweden. Anyone who felt Germany had no chance is crazy.

It used to be a clash of styles and it isn't anymore.

Jokes apart, you do not need to play any hockey to know that Canada is still the best.
Even if germany won in a best on best match, Canada would still be the best and will remain the best for loooong time.
That said, canada lost, germany won, everyone's happy.

All those excuses from Canadians miss the point. Everyone knows this isn’t the best Canada has to offer and that would be a fine excuse if you had lost to Russia or Sweden but you lost to Germany.

NHL washouts and AHL guys come into DEL or the Swiss league and often are easily the best players. The best Canadians in Euro leagues should beat Germany 9 out of 10 times. And this Germany is missing their NHL guys as well who make a HUGE quality difference for Germany too.

This is a huge upset no matter how you put it. The gap between Canada and Germany is that big. This would be like Malta beating Spain in soccer in a World Cup KO game. Even if Spain could only use their guys in foreign leagues, theyd still be huge favorites.

As a Canadian, I actually prefer the tournament this way - level the playing field and make each game interesting to watch! Would not be opposed to taking all professional hockey players out of the Olympics.

Germanys celebration was nice. Can see how much it means to them.

It‘s our Miracle. Sure, no NHL Players is a huge factor, but our players there are still not as good as players from other countries. But we have a team, a team that plays many games with nearly the same formation.

Today is a day to celebrate, it‘s the biggest success we archieved till now, and probably for all time. I hope some of our players get the opportunity to play in better Leagues now...

Yes yes... the good old "there is no hockey outside NHL". NHL only consists of what 700-800 players? Rest are playing elsewhere.

There is no better hockey outside the NHL.
Don't dismiss the fact of what happened at this and how the tourney would have changed.
