I love the excitement but seriously, it wasn't just Gary Bettman. People really need to stop with that. The IOC didn't want the NHL players there either.

No the IOC wanted them into the Tournament, but the Insurance cost for all National Team no wanted to pay it. Its the same as for all Athlets on Olympics.
Example Zürich Insurance is the Official Partner for germany, germany pay Zürich nothing, all the Money for Injuries or later damage will fall on the Companies.

But also the Owner of the Teams say no, because of Injuries happen 4 Years before and cost a few Teams the PO.

As a Canadian I feel like I should be a lot more disappointed by that, but I'm not - this is great for the game of hockey. Seeing the Germans so excited at the end is fantastic.

There are like 17 former NHL'ers on Canada, and many played in the NHL just last year. Compare that to Germany.

Not even close with the calibre of players in this game. It's impressive for Germany, but no.

A. Germany played their hearts out and believed in this win.

B. I'd rather see Germany and OAR play in the final, as each roster has at least some remote semblance of their full squad. I don't claim to know their international rosters well, but this could be Germany's B and OAR's C squad.

C. Canada's roster, encouraging as the story may be to piece these guys together, is quite honestly their "G" squad or likely even worse. You could probably find at least six 23-man teams from the NHL that are better than this. I have no desire to see them partake any further in this tournament wearing those jerseys TBH.

D. That said, I think this Canadian squad wasn't atrocious this tournament. They've played well enough to potentially keep the score close vs. OAR in the GMG and just really underestimated their opponents this game. I think Germany has a chance since they've out-plucked Canada.

E. Most imporantly, f*** Gary Bettman and all that he stands for for ruining something that we waited four years to see.

But our reliance on physical/dirty play has diminished a great deal since the 1970s.

If people don't want to believe that, oh well.

I agree that it has gotten a lot better. But we're talking the last 10 years or so. Don't kid yourself.

Since im from German, that Check to the Head was the dirtiest cheapshot in this Tournmant, more then the Knee to knee elbow to the head check from Kovalhuck hours before.

Not really when you consider no NHL players. It has evened the playing field. It's an upset in name only. If Germany beat Canada best on best. Now that would be an upset.

What? An upset is when a team that is favored to win ends up losing. Canada was still heavily favored in this game.

I'm Canadian and I am not even mad yet! I love underdogs and that is the spirit of a tournament, exciting and always on your toes because anything can happen.
