This team Canada are not the defending gold medalists. Apples and oranges friend

Germany has far better ex-NHLers than Canada.

I was getting at the olympic athletes of Russia who would hear olympic anthem only if I am not mistaken.

Definitely wasnt saying "haha at Canadians." Sorry if it sounded like that

It's pretty non-sensical, though. The European league don't have much more in common than "the North American leagues".
At the end of the day it is players unable to crack an AHL roster here .

So it really doesn't matter if one league is marginally better than the other.

This game isn't over. That Wolff injury certainly rattled the Germans a bit. Canada will come out flying.

If they score one early, this will get interesting very fast...

I wouldn't bet on it. Canada looks done and Desjardins lost control of his team when he couldn't regroup them after the first intermission.

Then he actually had them playing a 1-4 trap (down 2 goals!) instead of the aggressive forecheck that was causing the Germans problems early in the first period.

it was a big hit, which means by iihf rules its a penalty. the boarding call in the first that was only a minor becaause the canadian player " put himself in a bad position" to me was worse and if shaking through the center of the ice with your head down isnt " putting yourself in a bad position" i don't know what is.

Elbowing the opposing players head is not a "big hit"

The gap between Canada's best and Germany's best isn't that big though, that's the thing. There is more skill on the Canada squad but that's nullified if you get outworked because they don't have that much skill to win on alone.

I wouldn't even go that far.

It's an interesting game because Germany and Canada are actually very similar.

In fact, the only team with skill on it is OAR.

Everyone else has to win through hard work and systems.

It doesn't always happen and we're not particularly impressed by Brule.
It doesn't happen all the time cause you usually win. Whenever the other team plays better the Canadians will stop playing the game and just start to bully skillplayers around stuff.

When you have a player like Datsyuk and the Canadian defenseman is like "ok his hands are to fast for me anyways. just gonna knock the guy over"

Once again it blows my mind that he didn't use his timeout when it was 2-0.

Coaches always save their timeouts for some stupid end of game play when in many cases, the game is already over at that time..

Canadas Team has still way better players then Germany. Even Canadas 4th line today would never join our German League.
So why is this not surprising today?
Clearly we do not have better players at this tournament.

Germany is handing our ass to us.

You can say that for every ****in teams fans , in the U.S case after they were put out it was the NCAA players they left off in favor of past their prime old horses, you can go check it out if you don't believe me.

Un ignored you just to see your posts in this thread, glad I did.

So at least now you can acknowledge that Canadian fans can be pretty whiny too right?

Germany are playing great though, but their team isn't as bad as people claim.

There's a reason he also isn't in the NHL anymore.

This won't help the resume either.

I watch a lot of Canadian hockey across all tournaments and usually we just lose without the dirty play.

Do we play physical when we're down? Sure.

Does it cross the line into predatory play? Not as often as people in this thread seem to believe.

No Canadian fan in here is impressed with what Brule did. It was dirty and it was selfish and it hurt the rest of the team.

I'm not sure what else I can say.

Do Canadians really think 4th line NHLers are better as players like Reimer, Kahun or Macek?

Sure, I guess they can play in the AHL and many of them did but they wouldnt be any good.

Dont think it has something to do with them not being good AHL players. But why go to a foreign country when you can play at home and get paid more with an easier schedule

I'm less than pleased we're losing 4-1, but our roster is laughable so it's anything but surprising to me.
