Germany has far better ex-NHLers than Canada.

Well thats probably true . A Canadian or US player is much more likely to stick around and try to make NHL teams on tryouts than Europeans at the tailend of their careers.

Wrong comparison. These Canadians may be Team R or even worse, but they are still better than all the Canadians playing in the DEL, who most times are the stars of their German teams, ahead of our German players.

It's not an upset.

Belarus beating Sweden in best-of-best in 2002 - that was an upset.

The "it's Canada's 20th best team" attempt at an excuse falls somewhat short because it has no relativity to the opposition. These Canadian players are all among the highest scorers/best players in their European leagues, 'better' than the Germans who are currently playing them off the rink. It's not Canada's best, but they should still be putting up a better performance than this.

Well, that's why everybody hates Team Canada oustside of Canada.
Disagree. Certain HFBoarders can sometimes make it hard to root for them, though.

Uhh yeah and it is 100% true.

Sorry to hurt your feelings.
It's pretty non-sensical, though. The European league don't have much more in common than "the North American leagues".

Germany deserved to beat Sweden.

And now they deserve to be ahead 4-1 against Canada.

In this tournament, Germany is a good team.

It's an upset from a hockey nations point of view but it's not particularly surprising from a hockey point of view.

One thing is always certain when Canada is losing

The excuses start pouring in

I have not seen anyone making excuses. unless you are referring to some posters saying Canada needed to make better choices when putting the team together. But that is just pointing out a truth. Fact is Germany has been better and Canadian posters have been saying that.

I am Canadian but I am also half German so I am okay with this.

Lets also be realistic to all the trolls. History will look back and see this tournament has an * if nhlers come back for next. If they don’t north Americans won’t care about it like the WHC.

And Europeans won’t care about the World Cup and then everyone will argue about their opinions on who is better what tournament is better and the sun will still rise in the morning and set at night and it will continue to not effect people’s lives

Full marks to the Germans, and the Canadians are playing terrible, but the point is that it's not an upset.

If any of the broadcasters get an itchy bum they either have to scratch towards the arena or die :(

This game isn't over. That Wolff injury certainly rattled the Germans a bit. Canada will come out flying.

If they score one early, this will get interesting very fast...

They wouldn't need a better team. They need to play disciplined and tight hockey.

The gap between Canada's best and Germany's best isn't that big though, that's the thing. There is more skill on the Canada squad but that's nullified if you get outworked because they don't have that much skill to win on alone.

Canada wasting their PP chances in this game and being undisciplined is the biggest reason they're losing. As Button is saying, they're beating themselves.
