GDT: Semifinal - May 20 - Sweden (4) vs Finland (1)

I hope finns don't think too much of themselves after that win against US. It never ends well when finnish players are too confident. Finns need to be desperate so they outwork their opponent.

I always hold Nylander against Rantanen rivalry and now I can say that Rantanen has been maybe better for Finland than Nylander for Sweden cause of 8p from all 22 goals of team finland vs 12p from all 32 goals of team sweden.

I expect something similar. It will be tough to find openings to the offensive end zone, for both teams. At some point Sweden will turn the puck over, but the Finns still have to score on Lundqvist which will not be easy.

Sweden will need a great individual effort from someone to get through a trapping Finland.

Obviously we put much hope into Bäckström and Nylander for that.

Expecting to get our butts kicked. Hopefully I'm wrong, but we'd need to boost our Marjamäki-patent-pending NZ trap with a few dozen land mines in order to stop Nick & Willy.

If we somehow manage to pull this off, it will most likely be 1-0 with a breakaway goal from Juhamatti Aaltonen - just to **** off Juhani Tamminen. I put my 0.02 of faith in it that the Universe hates him.

An early Finnish breakaway goal, then Finland clog its own zone into a meat wall and that's the end result.

This game will be a [MOD] for me. I expect a Swedish win, but I know it will be a tough, tough game.

I really hope Finland doesn't score first, both as a Swedish fan and a hockey fan.

I have a feeling Finland scores first, in the first 5 minutes of the game. Traps hard until the last 2 mins, and then Sweden scores two quick goals.

Whoever decided that deserves to get fired. Crazy. This idiot shouldn't even be anywhere near a tournament like this.
 
I hope Sweden wins! I want to see Nylander vs. Marner. It will probably be a tougher match up for Canada but whatever.

If Finland somehow wins, I'll take that as well, because we've already handily outplayed them and can do it again.

Should be a fun game.
 
Obviously I will be cheering for my home country but Sweden does have a FAR stronger roster this year, it's not even close.. would have been a different case last year when Sweden was relatively weak and Finland had one of the stronger national teams in our history with the likes of Barkov, Laine, Koivu and Granlund on the ice.

Finland has to fight and give it their all to have a chance, I'll be happy if Im wrong but the swedes will most likely win this.

Nevertheless, go Suomi!
