A lot of momentum was gained for Canada when they managed to score on the PP after 17 seconds into the 3rd period.
Had they not scored I think that would have allowed Russia to get the game back into the pre-penalty stage that they had during whole of the 2nd period. Also all those missed opportunities in 2nd would have decided it too, I think.

But the biggest decider I still believe was all those power plays Canada was getting in the end of the 2nd period/whole 3rd period. It gets really annoying knowing you can never lead a game against Canada in any major tournament without starting to get tons of penalties against you in the end.

I honestly believe that this is a huge problem in international hockey, just like the bias for football teams like Barcelona, R Madrid etc. (me being barcafan and admitting this being a problem). Refs get too pressured to favor these kind of teams with huge influence over the sport.

Do you have any evidence to back up your claim?

How many points has he scored at the tournament? You don't have to be one of the better, you have to score goals. Nichushkin can't and Kaprizov can.

You hope that players will play well in big games. For Nichushkin, it was as if he wasn't even there. Its unlikely that he will receive much playing time tomorrow in the Bronze game.

There were 3 penalties, not 4. 2 of them were absolutely clear and deserved. Only 1 was questionable. And Canada did not score on neither penalty. Those penalties were the result of Canada's incredible pressure on Russia.

Lol, Belov's penalty was absolutely stupid, Zub's penalty wasn't very smart as well... Canada had an incredible pressure because of our stupid penalties, not the other way around.

In the 3rd Canadians have stopped pretending that they are Finns, and finally have started playing their game. Forecheck and old-school shooting - instead of "don't allow them to rush by any means possible" - just did the trick against vulnerable Russian defence.

The penalty against Kuznetsov was the most outrageous! He clearly lost his balance and fell turning the corner behind the net and slid into the goalie. If the goalie leaves the net to go out for a skate and stickhandles around, he does not warrant special protection.

most high sticks are also accidents but they are called.

Russia got dominated in the 3rd period. Don't couple me in with one poster, I've always supported this tournament since I was a kid.

Stop overstating the prowess of your team when it wasn't even on display until the 3rd period. Don't mistake being on a cavalcade of power plays as domination. Don't imply that just because his opinion differs from yours, that the "one poster" wasn't more right than wrong.

Those who impose their own will and their style eventually win. This game is a perfect example.

Not even Hasek could stop those goals

That's what people always say when he costs his team another game. The dude never steals games, just keeps his team hanging around or completely blows it. He's a really good back up or lower end starter in the NHL.

Tampa is going to suffer with him in net for the next few years.

To all eyes Canada utterly thrashed Russia in the 3rd. That includes 5 on 5.

I'm kind of surprised your position would be that we didn't own the 3rd.

Did you start your TV just in time for the canadian power play session?

Canada was clearly better team even witohut PPs. Look how many PPs got Russia, and could do nothing with it. Canada was better..offensively, defensively, controlled play 5on5...outside of 2nd period, where Canada made some terrible mistakes which were punished.

I think it's comical to think that Canadians get an advantage/preferential treatment in international hockey played in Europe/Russia...I suspect a significant majority of Canadian hockey fans disagree with your assessment, and likely many feel the opposite and always have

I can't recall ever seeing any evidence ever that Canada has such an advantage/preferential treatment in international hockey played in Europe/Russia...but I know for decades I've felt the opposite at times! HaHa
