Another round, another blowout, this time for C J.T. Miller. Can we count Miller as the best Palestinian to ever play hockey? (Look where he was born.) G Cam Talbot is added to the poll.

HOW TO RANK PROSPECTS: Based on their value in a hypothetical trade or waiver draft. This takes into consideration a prospect's ceiling, how close he's to making it, his health, work ethic, the whole deal. Imagine there was a prospect waiver draft and you could keep only one prospect. That guy is our #1 prospect. Then imagine we had one more waiver protection. That guy is our #2 prospect.

This round shouldn't be a blow out and multiple players should get many votes.

I went with McIlrath just because he brings the most unique skill set to the team. His addition would mean there would be no more need for the annual tough guy acquisition. It would also cover for the rebounds the goalies leave because he's police the crease.

Add Allen because he's in the NHL and has been a very good, steady presence in Hartford prior to that.
 
Went with Lindberg. Not lighting the A on fire in his first season but has put up some points. And you can't forget about his defensive abilities.

Add Allen, who I really like as a jack-of-all-trades type of player.
 
I agree that this is the first really interesting round. I think it'll be a race between Talbot and the two defenders, but I went with Fast, because I think he'll eventually develop into the best player of those listed - and would likely be on the NHL team right now along with Kreider/Miller/Talbot/Allen if not for the injuries last year and this. Very curious to see him next year after a summer off to further rehab his injuries and add muscle.

Allen is a good choice for an add, but I'd take him after Buchnevich and Duclair.

Should be Talbot. He has shown consistency for a full half-season which is more than we can say for anyone sans Chris Kreider. Obviously his games played is limited, but where Henrik has lacked this year, he has shined. It's obvious that right now he is an excellent back-up, but his ceiling could be starter. He could also regress, but I don't think that will be the case.

McIlrath hasn't shown he can be reliable, or translate his game to the NHL at all yet. Of course that doesn't mean he won't, but even when he does I don't think his ceiling is much higher than a top-4 shutdown guy with snarl. It's an asset any team would want, but not enough to give him the #3 spot ahead of someone who has proved they can at least be a reliable back-up in the NHL, which this season has shown can be a very important thing to have. Starters will falter. I think McIlrath could have the bigger impact in the future, but I'm not convinced it is going to happen either.

Add Allen. He's looking comfortable in his limited time playing the past few games. Someone who can show they're at least comfortable playing in the NHL deserves to be somewhere in the top of the list for prospects. Other players not on the list have a higher ceiling but not looking like a deer in headlights during a call-up says a lot. In the end NHL results are the most important factor, not what could be.
 
I remember when Tablot was first recalled, right after Biron retired, I had to argue with a number of people to try to convince them that the team had faith in him and wouldn't look to immediately add a veteran backup. And now, he's our third-best prospect. What a difference fourteen games makes. :laugh: :rolleyes:
 
I like Talbot and was with 2k2 on his efficacy as an NHL player, but I don't think he is the #3 guy considering his age and situation.

I have to go with McIlrath as I think he will be a defenseman on this team for a good many years, as opposed to a backup goalie for a few.
 
Voted Talbot. I have to say that it's such a breath of fresh air to see Kreider up there and not feel like we're being mocked. I used to see him up there and think "he's still up there just because of his position and skills, but he'll never amount to much and it's almost painful to have him up there". Shows that I need to have some patience.

Interestingly, injuries are why I DON'T think Fast should be picked here.

Definitely need to add Buch - if you agree that KHL is better quality league than AHL then he should be considered closer to his potential top 6 RW at NHL than any other prospect.
 
Disappointed that Oscar Lindberg isn't getting more love in the polls.

Completely agree. Then again, this is the same board that declared Talbot better than Lundqvist after 5 games, so you can't be too surprised.
 
McI's upside over Cam's current level of play, IMO.

Talbot is 100000x better than I ever thought he'd become, but I also think he's going to be hard pressed to top his current level of play over the rest of his career.

He looks to be a solid career backup, which is more than expected for him by far. McI still has top pairing ceiling, although it is semi dwindling (although his "basement" is easily NHL bottom pairing now).

Add Duclair.

I agree. It might be tough for Talbot to improve on his lousy .938SV% and the downright horrific 1.66 GAA. And let's be honest, he's not going to continue winning 3/4 of his starts for the rest of his career while playing behind a non-playoff team.

I like Lindberg a lot, but I'd have Kreider, Miller, McI, and Skjei over him.
 
Voted McI. I think he'll be a very good second pairing defenseman that'll add some much needed nastiness.

Add Buch.
 
Talbot. Add Duke. I think talbot should have been top 3 but I won't be mad as long had he is top 5. Sad part is after talbot, Mcilrath and maybe hrvrik or lindberg the only two prospects I am excited for are Duclair and Buchenvich.
