WHO IS A PROSPECT: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/whatmakesaprospect

HOW TO RANK PROSPECTS: Based on their value in a hypothetical trade or waiver draft. This takes into consideration a prospect's ceiling, how close he's to making it, his health, work ethic, the whole deal. Imagine there was a prospect waiver draft and you could keep only one prospect. That guy is our #1 prospect. Then imagine we had one more waiver protection. That guy is our #2 prospect.

PROSPECTS ELIGIBLE TO BE ADDED

Beach, Kyle
Jean, Kyle
Missiaen, Jason
Nicholls, Josh
Stajcer, Scott
Wilson, Jason

Gotta go with Kantor. Everyone on the list has no more than a 4th line/3rd pair potential, but he's the only one with a solid chance to make it.

Add Beach because he's the only one who's not in the ECHL.

I highly question how Kristo is our #7 ranked prospect. Buch at #11?

People vote based on hype. Have no idea what these prospects actually look like.

Kristo is in our top 3. Buch top 5 and pushing for top 3 once Kreider, Miller, and Talbot no longer are considered prospects.

McIlrath shouldn't be in the top 5 and I love him. He has a long way to go. One day maybe he'll realize his potential of being someone like Douglas Murray but he's still 3-4 years away from that.

100% agree with what you said about Kristo, can't say the same about Buchnevich but I've never seen him play...

You are going purely on the player's ceiling, not the odds he'll reach it. Kristo has great potential, but whether he'll reach it is a big question mark. Lindberg may have lesser potential, but he's a near-certainty to become an NHL player.

Buchnevich gets more hype around here than Skjei, who a lot of people criticize. So I'm not buying the hype thing.

I don't see it with Kristo. The talent is there, but not in a consistent way. He's a dynamo on the PP, but I don't see a whole lot at even strength. He's not close to JT Miller, for instance.

I disagree that McIlrath is that far from making an impact. I think he's a year or two away. He's still raw, but has improved by leaps and bounds already. One to two years, by the way, is about where I see Kristo in terms of becoming an impact player.

This isn't an exact science. Everyone ranks the guys differently. It's not really fair though to make a blanket statement that people don't know the players and are just buying into hype. I watch the prospects more than most, and I don't have major problems with the list. I'd move a couple guys up or down a little bit, but nothing too drastic.

Voted Bourque. Add Nicholls. (and finally, I'm not the only one asking for him to be added) He scored 110 goals in 3 years in the WHL when he was 20 and younger. He got 4 games in Hartford and now is in the ECHL. Not putting up the numbers I was hoping to see, but I'm holding out hope.

Kantor no question imo. Kantor has a legit chance of being a scrappy, POS, annoying 4th liner in the NHL. He's a NYC boy who would be an absolute favorite with the big club.

Add Nicholls.
