Value of: Sedins to Tampa

With Stamkos going to IR, tampa gets $8,460,613 of cap relief. If Stamkos doesn't come back till the Playoffs (much like CHI with Kane) they can fill all that space without worrying about going over when he is activated.

Both sedins retained at 50% would be $7,000,000...

Unfortunately their contracts dont expire at the end of the year so tampa would still need to send some salary back (maybe Callahan?).

Would Tampa be interested and what would they be worth? A pick and prospect per sedin?

*fun fact: the sedins and hedman are both from the same town Örnsköldsvik, Sweden which has a population of less than 30,000*

Highly, highly doubt Vancouver is going to trade both Sedins at 50% unless there are some seriously good pieces coming back

I'd love to see Bergevin make a move for the twins this year.

He is probably looking for another 4th liner though!!!

Dumb for everybody. Sedins are done. We are seeing zombie seasons from them and this is with a team built around them. They are detriments without O zone starts and they can't keep up in four on four play. They are done, so done!

Sedins are going to retire as Canucks.
Really can't see any scenario where they are traded as a pair.

Tampa is one of the least likely teams in the league that would add them.

Tampa is really the only team that could actually use them to all-in for the Cup given Stamkos' IR cap relief and potential length of injury. This would be an extreme version of what the 2014-15 Hawks were able to do with Kane's injury.

It won't happen for a number of reasons, namely Vancouver's reluctance to rebuild, but it's not an idea without merit.

Also they have another year after this one.

There is no reason to believe the Sedins want to leave as mercenaries, that what they crave most before the end of their careers is a Cup, no matter where they get it. They have NMCs for a reason, and I suspect that reason is to play out their NHL years in Vancouver before possibly returning home to play a season for MoDo.

On the other hand, the fact that they are still a package deal makes them extremely unwieldy for acquiring teams, even with up to 50 percent retained. I doubt GMs are lining up, given their decline.

Yes, their continued presence makes it very difficult for the Canucks to decide to rebuild. No, this has no bearing on the twins' decision, which is almost certainly to finish their NHL careers in Vancouver, at the expiration of their current contracts. I can't think of any two players less likely to be influenced by external pressure either.

I actually don't think it's unreasonable. They are still great 2nd liners. Send back a couple young guys that Tampa probably won't be able to afford anyway

Let's ignore the fact that the Sedins want to stay in Vancouver. No team will take on 2 NMCs prior to the expansion draft.

I think the Habs are the only realistic suitor for an in-season trade because they might be the only contender that have a few spare forward expansion protection slots (correct me if I'm wrong).

Any realistic trade, which clearly isn't realistic, would be trading both Sedins retained at the deadline and then having them traded back to Vancouver in the Summer. That way the Canucks earn some picks/young players, the Sedins get a chance at a cup and the team they go to get's a boost with 2/3'rds of a very good second line, all for a single cup run.

Bettman would probably call shenanigans and he'd be right ... would be interesting to see though. Sedins with Patches in Montreal would be kind of cool, particularly if they could get a cup ... and then home to the crappy Canucks. Plus, it would probably make Junior cry, which would be fun.

Sedin's to SHL! lol Nobody is going to bite on the double trouble $7M age 36 twins. What team is going to free up $14M to take these guys at this point in their careers?

If their contracts expired this year, maybe. We're already going to lose someone like Alex Killorn at the expansion draft. I don't want to turn that into Palat or Drouin because we have to protect two more players.

No interest whatsoever from Tampa.
