Would this one be crazy enough to work?

I know its a long shot but how the bases is there maybe.

D. Sedin
H. Sedin

For

Ribiero (I assume they'd wanna dump him)

Fiala
Kamenev
1st
3rd

Somthing close to that work?

I have no idea if that would work, but Nashville is definitely the team Vancouver should be talking to about the Sedins - Nashville or possibly Minnesota.

And why is Nashville giving up two potential top 6's AND a 1st for two guys who are in the twilight of their careers? Nashville is set up to be a contender for the next 5-6 years with Fiala and Kamenev being a big part of that. No thank you from Nashville's perspective.

Replace one of Kamenev or Fiala with Jarnkrok (Or another decent but not amazing center/winger), and take away the 3rd and yes. Also retain on both Sedins.

Canucks would def retain to make it work but I don't think we could accept less than that offer. It's really not that much. Preds would be one of the Cup favorites.

Because the Sedins still produce like top 6 during a period where Nashville is in a win now, not a win later, stage of the team. The Canucks need to wait until Sedins reach 1k+ pts before trading if they do at all.

Last week I was thinking this very same thing! :amazed:

The Preds could use offensive chemistry and have the motivation to make a trade to boost the club's performance. Vancouver also has motivation to do so, though it's hard to think they'd do any trade without some solid youngsters in trade (not just picks, a veteran and a hit-or-miss prospect).

But would the twins move to Nashville? I doubt they'd waive.

I think this was the case but has probably changed due to the Subban for Weber trade. Most of there core guys are in the 22-27 age group and they already have some great prospects that they will most likley want to keep instead of trading them away. But than again its not like Rinne and fisher are getting any younger....

Saros is in the pipeline to replace Rinne if he falters and right now, as much as I hate to admit it, Rinne appears to have turned things around. Also, we have Kamenev in the system to replace Fisher and/or Ribeiro as well as Jarnkrok who will probably slot in as the 3rd center.

This. SO MUCH this.

You aren't going to get a good return for two players well past their prime signed to big money contracts. Vancouver made their bed with the Sedins. They're going to have to retire there.

I second this motion.

I would do a first, Jarnkrok, and something more for Sedins but definitely not this package, we get fleeced.

Although after the Weber trade, it seems Poile enjoys getting fleeced

Completely agree. Aside from the nuts and bolts of the trade pieces, this adds $10 million to our cap going into an off-season we'll need to re-sign Johansen and also forces us to protect two more forwards, exposing either Neal (if we protect 4D) or Ellis/Ekholm.

I've said it in previous Sedin/Nashville proposals, if we're going to take on significant cap and give up those kinds of assets, I'd rather see us target a single player around his prime years versus two getting close to retirement.

The Sedins aren't going to return a ton unfortunately. They're right at the end of the careers and their play has dropped off. Also, it's likely that only one or two teams could actually feasibly make a play for both Sedins. 1st, prospect, cap dump.

Personally I'm fine with watching them finish their entire careers in Vancouver and honestly I doubt they'd want to leave, but if they did want to go out and try for a cup I wouldn't blame them at all.

The secret plan is that Johansen signs in Vancouver

Well potentially yes. They aren't super high end prospects for one. And the first is going to be late if Nashville had the Sedins. Canucks would retain the max in this scenario.

You're getting 2 top 6 players. Imagine this lineup:

D.Sedin H. Sedin Neal
Forsberg Johansson Arvidson
Smith Fisher Wilson
whoever

If Rinne gets his mojo back that becomes my cup favorite.

I'm sorry you must not know enough about Kamenev or Fiala then. Fiala is most definitely a blue chip prospect and Kamenev is the only center we have with top 6 potential, the first is still a first and we're a team that builds from the draft.

Even if you retain max we still HAVE to protect them in the draft, and I wouldn't want to protect them over Neal, Forsberg or Johansen. Easy pass.

Maybe five years ago, or a year from now and for a lot less, but not now.
