Seattle Rain Design Concept

I was bored at work today and was inspired by the Seattle Mammoth thread that I designed my own branding for the Seattle Rain. Sorry for making another thread.. I didn't want to hijack the other one.

I plan to do more mock ups of additional applications and possibly a small marketing campaign concept as well.. (to come at a later date, if I decide to do it)

Anywho.. here is my concept..

The shoulder patch is supposed to be the top side of an umbrella.. with the R over top of it.. I'm not sure if that translates that well though.

I think "Rain" is an awful name for a team, and for some reason it makes me think of "Purple Rain," which in itself is awesome.

The unis looking okay, but kind of cartoonish...like, they evoke Pokemon in some way?

Team Rocket is the first thing that came to mind when I saw the "R."

I kind of like the concept, but I don't know if calling a team "Rain" would really work. And, I'm not really a fan of the jerseys and logos in the OP.

Keep in mind, I literally did this in less than a day, as just a concept, there are clearly things that need to be tightened up, but it gets the idea across. I don't see this as a serious contender, I was just having fun with it today.

I chose Rain because thats what I think of when I think Seattle.. So I went with it.. could also be interpreted as "Reign"
I also chose it because it proposed a challenge for me, how the hell to you create a logo for rain without it being a rain drop which runs the risk of looking like the oilers geared sperm logo.

I also feel there is potential there for good marketing campaigns using phrases like "Make it Rain" or "When it Rains it Pours"
