Ottawa Senators trade Matt Murray to Seattle Kraken for Philipp Grubauer

Maybe these two goalies need a change of scenery. Some familiarity to help them.
Both have a cap hit of around $6 million
Both have a current Save Percentage of 0.890
Both have played about 230 NHL games with similar stats.
Matt Murray may excel with the change of scenery. Playing with his former teammate from his Junior Team the Soo Greyhounds and with the Pittsburgh Penguins Jared McCann. His former coach from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Jay Leach, is Assistant Coach with the Seattle Kraken. Another former Pittsburgh Penguin teammate Jamie Oleksiak is with the Seattle Kraken. His Assistant GM with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Jason Botterill, is Assistant GM with the Seattle Kraken.

Cannot see why the Kraken make this move.

I also can't see why (for instance) the fact that Grubauer and Stutzle are both German would somehow inspire Grubauer. Or that Murray used to share a dressing room with Jared McCann.

And Grubauer has actually been pretty good in his last couple of games, with the team playing better defense and helping out the goalies as well.

Murray, on the other hand, has shown in Ottawa that the troubles he had in Pittsburgh(glove hand) seem to be too much to overcome for him.

Atleast at one point Murray won something. Not that either are any good but what happend in Ottawa was knee jerk from a psychotic cheap skate owner. He has been injured they are in last place. Let him work through it. Just more putrid asset management in Ottawa. What a nightmare it is to be a fan of this team. When does it end?

Contrary to what some are saying. I like this. Good points. If melnyk is to pay millions for a goalie, he will most likely want that goalie playing for the sens and not be waived.

As a Pens and Kraken fan. Absolutely no way! Pens parted ways with Murray at the right time. Grubauer and the Kraken are playing better right now.
