@zeke can you direct me to a site or if its present on this board somewhere the key advanced stats from the leaf game last night. I wanted to see how much the stats matched the eye test. Appreciate it, thanks.

any particular ones you want?

Leafs were comfortably over 60xgf% both at even strength and at all strengths - pretty dominant.

I don't love this site's version of xgf but it is free and easy to use: www.naturalstattrick.com

Crazy we're creeping up to being top 5 in literally every category other than goaltending (and therefore goals against).

Do you blame the gap between xGA and actual GA entirely on goaltending or do you think there is some noise there that xGA isn't capturing? I know some of the Leafs defensive micro stats don't look so hot since the new year.

It's possible. In general I would be skeptical that the Leafs are any kind of outlier that's way different than other teams in regards to how their xga is built.

Hey thanks, I will check that out, I was trying to understand a line by line comparison to understand dominance, including the defensive pairs. To me all lines looked good yesterday except the 2nd line. D pairings I was less observant so would be cool to see. Cheers

Ah you're looking for something like this:

Yes, correct Thanks! By the looks of it, the 4th line didn’t seem to perform that well either, interesting. I couldn’t find those numbers for the defensive pairs, not sure if I’m just not looking at the right place

If you go to the Linemates section you can toggle the player and see how he did when on the ice with any other player.

So...

Rielly - Liljegren 64.1xgf%
Brodie - Holl 79.3xgf%
Dermott - Bushky 27.7xgf%

Would be great if someone could explain this to me.

The Leafs rank #1 in expected rebound shots for 5v5 (113.82)

The Leafs rank #16 in actual rebound shots for

The Leafs have a -9.82 rebound shots for above expected (3rd lowest rank)

Florida ranks #2 in expected rebound shots for and #2 in actual rebound shots for with a +25.13 rebound shots above expected
Calgary ranks #4 in expected rebound shots for but #5 in actual rebound shots for with a +15.43 rebound shots above expected
Vegas ranks #5 in expected rebounds shots for but #4 in actual rebound shots for with a +27.16 rebound shots above expected
Pitt ranks #6 in expected rebound shots for and #6 in actual rebound shots for with a +17.01 rebound shots above expected
Carolina ranks #7 in expected rebound shots for and #1 in actual rebound shots for with a +49.48 rebound shots above expected

Just curious why our actual rebound shots for # is so much lower than our expected rebound shots for number?

Kyle Dubas spent $10m in cap space for this year in the off season of that $6.3M (Mrazek & Ritchie) has been a complete waste. For a GM that makes it a point to mention the flat cap every chance he gets he sure doesn't spend dollars wisely. A TOTAL GRIFTER.

So I added up the "Best possible lineups per GSVA" for what I'm guessing are the top 5 teams right now, and this is how it came out:

1. COL 38.0
2. FLA 37.0
3. TOR 34.8
4. TBL 32.9
5. BOS 32.0

I didn't look at any others for now, so its possible a CAR or CGY or PIT snuck into that top-5, but im pretty sure none of them sneak into the top-3. i'll check later.

If you can't only count your loses and not your wins (Bunting, Kase, Kampf). He didn't really pay a premium to unload Ritchie. He got Lyubushkin back in the deal who is probably worth about what he paid, a 3rd when you consider the TDL prices for players. Mrazek was not an unreasonable signing at the time, obviously it hasn't worked out. On the flipside he replaced Hyman who would have cost $5M X 8 for Bunting at $950k x 2 years. He didn't go crazy at the TDL and unload the clip like some teams. Held onto his 1st rounder, didn't overpay for Gio. Would have be nice to get Hagel if they could.

We did it.

We cracked the top-5 in xGA at even strength.

So the only thing not top 5 now is shooting percentage (still top 10) and save percentage (yikes) and therefore GA.

FLA and COL are out of reach now, but it would be cool to catch Carolina for a number of reasons imo.
