The early season shooting slump was really something - we still haven't recovered from it even though our shooting had been back up near the top the past couple months.

Other than that, the only non-awesome area had been our even strength defense, which has been above average but not great. But that has also been steadily climbing and is now just a tiny tick out of the top 10.

I definitely find shooting percentage highly variable. To me they're strong defensively but I'm guessing they give up more high danger scoring chances comparatively?

Jesse on spdn just said Leafs are the best team since Nov first.

If that's true, we as fans need to be more excited about our team

Edit: the exact quote is; " the Leafs are the best team in the league since November first, and that's not good enough"

This sounds about right if you're a Leaf fan with ptsd

Close, I think we're just behind the Avs since November 1st if I'm not wrong:
Toronto: 20-5-2
Colorado: 20-4-3

This is the rest of the division since then:
Tampa: 22-6-4
Florida: 18-7-4
Boston: 18-8-2

Where are you getting the xstats form? I saw a graphic where the Leafs were ranked 13th in xGA/60. Are there different methods of calculating it?

Yeah there are different xG models. I use evolving-hockey.com's.

If you look back the Leafs were 13th/14th just a week or two ago.

You probably also saw 5v5 not EV - though both evolving and NaturalStatTrick'a models have the Leafs 11th at 5v5, not 13th.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place for playoff match ups.

I am hoping New York somehow sneaks up on Carolina and takes the first spot and we are in wild card. That would be the best possible match up.

Otherwise you get Florida, Tampa or Carolina. Again those are all teams that I think we can beat but by no means is it anything more than a coin toss. I just want the playoffs to start.
