What do you guys think the value is of Sean Walker from the LA Kings? 27-yo RHD, with two more years left at 2.65m, can kill penalties and play on a power play, decent offensive capabiities, but of course, coming off a major knee injury (ACL and MCL).

That knee injury looked terrible and for a guy who is a little bit smaller and will need to have escape ability, that's got to be a consideration for any team making an offer.

He's played his last game in a Kings uni either way.

With the emergences of Durzi and Spence he's good as toast.

f***ing Tampa is probably gonna get Blake to retain 50% for a fourth round pick, then Walker will pair with Hedman on their top pair en route to another Cup. Walker's a really good defenseman, he's just had two years cut short due to injury. Hate to see it, but other guys have stepped up and there's no more room.

Avs have traded their top 3 RHD prospects this past season, and after Makar have Manson (UFA) and EJ on the right side. At his cap hit, I definitely see them making a push. I could see him being partnered with Byram potentially.

Seems like the Kings have enough PMD right now, but would there be any interest in Girard? The Avs could also use some C help this offseason, and LA seems to have that in spades right now. Could see a bigger deal with Girard + for Walker + C - Turcotte? Vilardi? Danault would be the guy, but he just signed.

The deal with the Avs is going to be simple, and not get complicated in layers. Avs arent doing a Girard for Walker straight swap, or even one with a minor add to Walker. If anything its Walker straight across for picks. LA has a log jam of young guys along with support players and need to move a few out. Any layered trade is going to add a bonafide type player, which Girard is not.
Villardi and Turcotte would also likely both really disappoint at C. Both seem to be headed for the wing in NHL careers.
On the topic of Danault - as you alluded to, a no as he was just signed. Also, Girard isnt going to be the main piece of a Danault trade

He will be tossed to Arizona as a throw in as part of a package for Chychrun. They get an NHL ready defenseman with term left on top of the prospects and pick LA throws their way.

I do not believe LA will trade for Chychrun.

Arizona had their chance for this trade at TDL, but Kings did not like the price.

Maybe somebody else will pay the price at draft time, but it will not be LA

:biglaugh: Walker for a third is probably more like it.

I'd be really disappointed if Walker pulled less than a 2nd, honestly.

He's versatile, can play any gameplay situation 20 min a game. His biggest problem honestly is probably just not being a specialist/excellent at any one thing. And of course there's some risk coming off a major injury for a guy whose skating is a big part of his game but the Kings would be better holding him and playing him on the left side rather than taking lesser value. He's mostly expendable due to age/depth than anything else (aka apparently we've only drafted right handed defensemen for the last decade)

Recycling this one since he is available as a UFA.

He was a big part of the turnaround in Philadelphia and it was no coincidence that the Flyers struggled when he was traded to Colorado at the deadline.

At 29, he seems to be in the prime of his career.

Does Colorado re-sign him and what kind of offer can he expect.

They discussed him earlier today on the Devils Insiders podcast and he seems like the type of player who would fit in to balance the freewheelers New Jersey has on the blueline.

Sean Walker will be the gift that keeps on giving.

Got good play from him for a season, got Oliver Bonk at 22, got goalie Bjarnason at 51, will get Clb 2nd this year or next, will get Colorado’s 1st in 25. Prospect Grans.

All that for Provorov and 2 bad contracts.

I suppose Drysdale, Seeler and Risto injuries have something to do with it either.

He's going to get paid. He had a great season in Philly and Colorado. He's not a flyer because we wouldn't pay what he was asking for.

I'd take him back in a heartbeat at anything under 3 years.

He really wasn’t that awesome in Colorado. A bit surprising because of how good his two way results were in Philly. Started good but he was pretty much just an anonymous depth guy in the playoffs. Fine but nothing I’d pay a ton to keep in the role he was in.

The middle ground between his time in Philly and in Colorado is probably realistic. He’s a good #4/5 who can play up when needed and has some two-way acumen.
