I have never been so indifferent after a “playoff” exit.

12.5% odds

much better odds that winning the tainted Covid cup
I feel the same. To me this whole play in and playoffs is nothing more than a preseason tournament. Some teams will be hot right off that bat and other teams will be cold. Lack of a training camp will do that.

I get that for the most part, unfortunately this is “who they are” more than the hot streak in Feb-Mar was.

But what a disappointment. They looked as bad as any team in the bubble four games in a row. They looked out of shape and poorly prepared. Carolina owned, absolutely owned the middle of the ice. They frustratingly did not look resilient either, barely showing a pulse after going down each night, though it’s hard to be resilient when you know your team is being flat out outplayed.

As disappointing and frustrating as it was, I think it’s important to not draw too many conclusions. To call this a weird situation would be an understatement. I think it would be a mistake to let this influence roster or coaching decisions.

That’s not to say the NYR don’t need work. They need to find depth - they iced 5 players who should be AHLers not on playoff rosters...DiG, McKegg, Howden, Gauthier, Staal and arguably Kakko/Chytil. They also need Kakko and to a lesser extent Chytil to develop into productive NHLers...lot of pressure for two kids and obviously will be a process but it’s a reality.

I just mentioned that I thought this 3 game series could have ramifications for our expiring contracts. I mean Strome and DeAngelo really did nothing to convince anyone they are playoff players. Fast if nothing else has proven he is a competitor. I don't know how this will shake out now.
DeAngelo clearly was off. Whether that's due to the break or injury who knows. Strome, did anyone expect differently? Ultimate perimeter player useless in the playoffs. Yawn.

I thought Shesterkin was supposed to make them a better team, transition better, leading to more goals, stopping a higher percentage of shots, just making the team superior in every way.

Lundqvist was a .901 and Shesterkin was a .900.

Maybe Lundqvist wasn't the problem in this series? People made him sound like he can't play at the NHL level. That he was most to blame for their struggle. Yet we see Shesterkin come in, and not a lot changed. End result was still the same.
People's nature is that they want to simplify things and find someone to blame.

Only trouba could play the game of his life only to cough up the puck toward the end and lose the game for us. TDA was pathetic as well.
Zib buch strome and Pan didnt show up
Hard to say if it was the long layoff or are these guys just not good under pressure..
We'll see next time.

I'm not sad. I'm just bored now.

I'm honestly more a Rangers fan than a hockey fan. I don't have any emotional connection to other teams or players, once they leave the Rangers too I don't really care about them anymore and can't get into it as much. :ha: My fave non-Ranger, Ovi has his cup, who else to root for?

Delusional.

This team needs more elite forward talent. Lafreniere is exactly what we need.
You need at least a trio to make things happen.
Crosby, Malkin and Letang
Ovechkin, Backstrom and Carlson
Forsberg, Sakic and Foote
Kane, Toews and Keith
Yzerman, Federov and Lidstrom

We might have one in Kakko. Still need two, and quickly, if we want a dynasty.

I think everyone kind of knows our third choice goalie could have played all three games for us, or he could have even played all three games for them, and it wouldn’t have made any particular impact on the series.

Besides that Chytil chance they did pretty much crap the final two periods.
The two lines should have been
KZB
Kakko-Strome-Panarin

I have been saying for some time, following my formula of
a play driver - facilitator - finisher
that line should be
Kakko - Kravtsov - Panarin

bad enuf that was not this year, hopefully they go there next season.

And please, in the name of all that is holy, no more effin Fogarty and DiG.

Chris K took out his A game but Zib was invisible and Zib + Chris need a linemate with more chemistry.

The rest of it, don't get me started.

I have to assume mika and tony were hurt

3 games in 4 nights and you number one goalie number one center and pp QB all limited. So disappointing
I think Fox was banged up too.He also didnt look right in any game

I am not going to blast any Ranger player.

Most of these guys didn’t skate for two months after New York City was completely locked down. The team wasn’t in game shape, much less physical shape. It’s not fair to attack these guys when many of them are aren’t ready to play playoff level hockey.

It would be really easy to rip on Mika. However, I doubt he left his apartment for two months outside of to get food.

That said, I have never seen a series where one team got every bounce and break like Carolina did. Were they better? No doubt. But no team can continue to win by throwing sticks at pucks and having the bounce end up on a teammate’s stick moving forward.

Too many people ready to jump off a bridge. It sucks, especially being swept, but this was a good year overall and this crazy shit of this tournament in August is just bizarre. Some teams handled it better than others. The Rangers obviously did not but at least we won't have to see this crap again. I'm confident Gorton will continue to make the right decisions and add quality pieces to the team. We have some nice talent in the minors and another 2 1st rounders this year. Looking forward to next year.

The curse of getting eliminated by recent Rangers continues. This series also showed me Panarin doesn’t deserve the MVP. He’s elite but he doesn’t carry play like Mackinnon can.
We seem to get high skilled players who have the fancy skills but lack fundamental hockey
