Lots of good pieces here but the mentality needs to change for this rebuild to succeed. This team doesn't have the puck enough. That's been the problem since we're drawing on cave walls.

Having Hank has been wonderful but we abused that privilege. Even with Hank, "let's just give up the zone because we have our security blanket" doesn't work. We watched it not work for years.

It's really not an issue now because has holes. We knew that. But I don't want them going down the same road with Shestyorkin.

I think that will change as they continue to add quality players and depth. The rebuild is only about 2 years now so still a few years to go before we are true contenders.

To be honest this was the best result for Rangers. No need to go for a Covid cup run now. Better to have a chance at Lafreniere. After all this is a Covid Cup. It would be so depressing to win cup in an empty building. Add in some embarrassing NHL 20 sounds. Also you could not have parade or big after parties like Ovy had. This was for the best. Now is the time to accumulate assets like Lafreniere or some other good prospect.

Do goalies really provide value? Is the difference between league average, and veznia-level big name, really worth the difference in cap hit?

We just got aced by a 33 year old journeyman. Does it make sense to play a Lundqvist 8M a year? Do we really hope Shesty gets that good and we have to pay him 10M?

I'm half tempted to ride Georgiev for a 5 year/15M deal. A Georgiev is about all you need to really make a cup run.

It helps if you test the goalie.

This team needs more guys like Fast And Lemieux who are legitimate bottom 6 guys that can generate some energy.
Especially when the opposition only has to target one line and shut them down.
Hopefully a guy like Barron can help but we really need some more guys like that in the pipeline.

We need more forward prospects for up and down the lineup.

Frankly I’d say we need at least one top 6 Center, one top 6 winger, and probably 4 bottom 6 guys. Not all for next year - just in the system to be part of the build towards final product.

I will accept it. Rangers have dominated canes for a long time. Celebrate when I can. You guys have a great young core coming up for sure. Treat the Goat well. He helped Charlotte win their championship but i wish he could have gotten a shot with the canes. He has a ton of upside.
