Good news is, no chance Henrik retires like this. He's too much of a gamer. He'll play for 2 more years on league minimum backing up somewhere good.

What if Gorton has a nice offer for Georgiev and Hank has his retirement tour next year as Igor’s backup?

Kreider gave a shit, most of the rest didn't. Looked a lot like the timid teams of the start of the year that got rooked on a nightly basis. They need one or two personalities in that room to strip the paint from the walls.

The rebuild continues. Here's to hoping for some draft luck.

Carolina has a great team. Scary to think they're that deep without two of their top 3 defensemen.

Figures Skjei would look like a completely different player on a new team.
Finally a non-apocalyptic post. This year was a good step forward. Anyone who thought we were ready to compete were blinded by the fact that the team was hot for the last month of the season. They still have ways to go but are on the right trick.

I’m not crying over this. It sucks but let’s be real we weren’t even supposed to make the playoffs this year. Carolina is a very good team and Rod the Bod is a very good coach. They’re contenders for sure, even with their questionable goaltenders.

Also I know everyone is gonna shit
on Mika and panarin because they WERE bad but it was a 3 game series against a much better team. Not the end of the world. EVERYONE was underwhelming to awful. That’s not any one or two players faults. Hank included.

anyway, this team is a few pieces and a coach away from being a contender. We have an elite goalie in Igor, two star players in Mika/Panarin, a guy about to breakout in Kakko, Fox/Tony got a taste of what it’s like in the playoffs against a battle tested team, and we have tons of assets to play around with. Y’all know Gorton ain’t gonna rest on his laurels this offseason. I see us going hard after a center and a defenseman via trade.

I think Quinn will get another year and be fired after a disappointing loss in the playoffs. But honestly I would just strike now and get a legit coach with a track record. Gallant and Laviolette would make me happy.

I see Carolina losing in 5 to their next opponent.

Do goalies really provide value? Is the difference between league average, and veznia-level big name, really worth the difference in cap hit?

We just got aced by a 33 year old journeyman. Does it make sense to play a Lundqvist 8M a year? Do we really hope Shesty gets that good and we have to pay him 10M?

I'm half tempted to ride Georgiev for a 5 year/15M deal. A Georgiev is about all you need to really make a cup run.
Really depends on the team around it, but I'm not convinced the Rangers would spend the money wisely if they allocate that money elsewhere

I think he knows he's done.

We got out everythingd in that series.

We get to make two first round picks again and perhaps upgrade at the head coach position.

DQ preaches effort and improvement but sooner or later we are going to need strategy and a system once our younger players start to mature.

A 33 year old journeyman playing one of the best games of his career with a solid defensive structure in front of him.

Let's not kid ourselves that a solid goaltender is not a difference maker. I'm not saying to pay Carey Price money, but a star goalie can absolutely steal games.

You can't have watched 15 years of Henrik Lundqvist and tell me Hank didn't steal games. He got his teams to places they had no business being.
