There is "no chance" he got hurt in the Islanders game or in the practice Friday?
He was fine when he left the game. If he was hurt enough to miss both yesterday and Saturday I'm not buying he's all of a sudden good to go on the brink of elimination.

I disagree with the theory that Igor couldn’t play through his injury. I think he could have. I just think the organization felt that they have 3 good goalies, and if their best one is even slightly injured, they can afford to start the others. However, this is a desperate time, so they bring him in
This is the boring, correct answer. Tweaked a knee, tweaked a groin.

Glad to see a thread where there is only level-headed measured responses to this news.

I hope he give them the same burst he did earlier this year.

Nothing about this is ideal. They're playing in a neutral city during a pandemic after 4+ months off, 95% of the team is either rusty as f*** or still f***ing terrible and the coach is overplaying those f***ing terrible players.

You'll find out what was wrong once they get knocked out. Be that tonight, Thursday, whenever.

Both teams in the same situation. Canes short two of their best players. No excuses.

I get what you're saying. I agree with you that I don't think Igor is suddenly "good to go." I think he's still nursing whatever is bothering him--likely a tweaked groin/hamstring/etc. I suspect that the Rangers decided that 100% Lundqvist was a better option than 80% (or whatever %) Igor. Igor is probably closer to 100% now and that equation has changed.

If Igor was fine and they just wanted to give Hank one last shot at #1, there was no good reason not to have Igor on the bench as backup.

Or, during normal times, our organization has created a luxury, first-class environment that overspoiled our players relative to other organizations and the environments they have. It's not a knock on your post. It's a knock on perhaps we pamper our players too much, being an employer in the greatest city in the world, which plays in Midtown, the heart of the greatest city in the world.

Is Lemieux replacing Fogarty or McKegg? Is Kravtsov on a plane to Russia?

Oh no excuses, Im just saying this is not an ideal situation to begin with, that doesnt change with or with out igor.

The Rangers have collectively sucked in this series, this is why they're down 0-2.

I'll make the counterpoint with all due respect that Igor's puck handling will at least alleviate some of the Canes' forecheck pressure. Yes, the entire team has collective sucked, though.

I'm not sure if it's solely Hank's poor puck-handling, but I have very little doubt that the team will play much better in front of Igor.

At least we'll have the NHL record for the shortest return to play ever and the quickest elimination from post season ever.
