With a goal tonight, Mark Scheifele has 324 career goals, all for the Jets. The franchise record is 328, set by Ilya Kovalchuk. I thought it would be fun to create a thread, so when he passes Kovy, it can be brought to the forum's attention.
Another season like this one and he reaches Ducky's watermark next year. With no more Thrashers left on the team, and the history of him being the first ever player drafted, coming from Dale Hawerchuk's team, as the organization announced their reincarnation as the Winnipeg Jets on the stage, I think that's the one that Scheifele would be most proud of.Even though Jets1.0 might not be consider the same franchise as the current Jets team.
I feel the rightful Jets franchise goal scoring record is held by Hawerchuk
I don’t consider Kovy a Jet
He was a Thrasher
It will be a great achievement when Schief passes Kovy
I think the real milestone Imo is Hawerchuk’s record
I will congratulate Schief when he passes Hawerchuk’s franchise record of 379 goals as a Jet which I have no doubt Schief will reach
While we are still a ways away and anything can happen…It's strange to think that he's only passed the 30 goal mark (as of today), three times in his career, but he averages 31 per 82 games played over the length of his career.
He isn't exactly building a HOF resume thus far, with high consideration going to annual voting (awards) and such, but it's not too much of a stretch to think that he'll reach +475 goals and 1,200 points in a Jets uniform; at least I don't think it's a stretch. He still has 6 years left on his contract (not including this current season). He's sort of in line with Tavares for career averages, and someone like Pierre Turgeon who did eventually get in.
He's also great this year, and looks like he'll be good for the forseeable future. If the Jets make a serious run or two in the playoffs over the next few seasons, he's going to be a hard person to overlook once his career's done.
It is really past due that the Jets 1.0 and 2.0 history and statistics get merged.Another season like this one and he reaches Ducky's watermark next year. Out of respect the Jets and the NHL will likely recognize surpassing Kovalchuk when it happens.

One of the worst inductees in history. Not as bad as Dick Duff, but close.I maintain my option that if Kevin f***ing Lowe is in the hall of fame all bets are off. What a joke, its not suppose to be a team award. Dude was a good stay at home D man that just happened to be politically connected and land in Edmonton on draft day.
Scheifele strikes me as a player that will push his career as far as he can. All reports are that he is extremely well conditioned and maximizes his diet so lifestyle wise he is doing what he can.Schiefele should be aiming for 500 career goals 1000*+points and 1200 plus games…. All time leading Jet in all categories
He would have gotten more money if he went to free agency and he chose to make a little less and stay a lifelong Winnipeg Jet . He was our first draft pick ever for Jets 2.0 and i will always have a soft spot for Scheifele just like Hawerchuk . Go Scheifele Go and Go Jets Go.Scheifele strikes me as a player that will push his career as far as he can. Duff's greatest strength was being on the roster of the Leafs and the Habs when they were powerhouses.Duff didn't score all that much but he had 6 Cups fcs! He must have been doing something right. Yeah, I know. Only 6 teams - but 2 of his cups were post expansion.
When they suspended the Coyotes stats, and started Utah from scratch, they showed that it should be possible to suspend Atlanta's. Also with 25 years in Arizona they have plenty of stats to sever Jets 1.0 from Arizona. It is really past due that the Jets 1.0 and 2.0 history and statistics get merged.
Yeah, maybe I'm in the minority but I have no problem letting sleeping dogs lie with regards to Jets 1.0 recordsIt would be great not getting 1.0 history back as most of those records are not breakable. It's fun seeing records being broken in my lifetime.
I just think it’s a different nhl than when grtez played. Morecparity.Yeah, maybe I'm in the minority but I have no problem letting sleeping dogs lie with regards to Jets 1.0 records
That team was a huge part of my childhood but I'm OK with the fact that the franchise moved on. I see 2.0 as something new, and we can celebrate great players from both eras separately.
I kind of see it like having a wonderful wife who passed away... and then years later, meeting another wonderful woman and falling in love with her and spending the rest of your lives together. You can still love and treasure all the moments you had with your first wife, but they're two separate relationships
I just hope he is paying his personal Chef...lol.Scheifele strikes me as a player that will push his career as far as he can. All reports are that he is extremely well conditioned and maximizes his diet so lifestyle wise he is doing what he can.
The NHL has a perfect opportunity to fix this but they are so f***ing stubborn.Even though Jets1.0 might not be consider the same franchise as the current Jets team.
