Series Talk: SCFs Discussion - 2025 STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS - BACK TO BACK BABY!

Edmonton's lines don't mean anything, because it's just gonna be McDavid + Draisatl + Perry within about three minutes, and then at that point the other 9 forwards just go out randomly
If Florida can build a lead, 1, 2 whatever, then yea, they will immediately put them together. Which is supposed to make it harder on them to come back as our bottom 9 should be able to outperform theirs.

Game 4 was such a disappointment on so many levels

“I think it’s just the experience of the last three years,’’ Bennett said postgame Saturday night. “That, and we know the talent and the depth of this team and we draw confidence from each other. We’re not relying on a couple of guys; we got four lines, six D and an incredible goalie back there.

“We have the most confidence in this room.’’

ouch! true, but that could be bulletin board materials there.

I tend to think being not that noticeable against the most offensively dynamic player in 30 years to be a good thing....

I get it, we want him to score more points etc. but keeping McD mostly off the scoreboard is a net win. Means the Oilers have to rely on non-existent depth.

McD is always going to look good and cause problems. Even Barkov will look silly against him sometimes. And yeah Mcdavid looked better early on, same last series. Point is to minimize the damage against and wear him down through the series. Let others do the damage for.

No way Bennett and Marchand have the same success they have now playing Barkov's minutes. Everyone has a role to play.
Its not just offensively, i don't think he's been as good defensively as he usually is.

He made a some uncharacteristically sloppy defensive plays this series (moreso earlier on).

I thought he better at neutralizing McDavid last year despite the counting stats being more of less the same.

That said, I agree anyone else on the team going up against McDavid would fare much worse. He has a thankless job, meanwhile the other lines feast on the Oilers depth..

I highly doubt this. Highly, highly doubt this. Guys today can't handle bants, awful shit talkers. Not an old guy 'things were better in my day' type of rant, either, just the truth. Can't even imagine what a ww2 vet would say to a guy like Draisatl.

These days, they can actually give unsportsmanlike conduct penalties for some kind of talk. Stuff that would have been fine fifty years ago. This is just nonsense.
