Vegas rolled Florida in 5 last year, Oilers will probably do the same. Oilers in 5 or 6.
You ate not paying attention, Google how many players were injured when they reached the Finals last year, Panthers were playing with a skeleton crew, they have no depth, no chance.

The argument for "they said the same thing about Dallas last round" is about as useful as comparing regular season stats.

Completely pointless. New round, new matchups. None of that shit matters, you gotta play the games.
Yes but when the games are not being played for a whole week people need to talk about something.

"Oilers are frauds wait til playoffs"

"okay well they always beat the kings wait til Vancouver they have their number, Canucks in 4!"
"okay well they beat vancouver but the sun was in their eyes wait until Dallas, Stars in 4!"
"okay they beat Dallas but Dallas wasn't REALLY that good, Panthers in 4!"
False narrative.

Didn’t 383/384 espn “experts” pick oilers over Canucks? Most of them also picking oilers in 5 or 6.

Stars were def favourites though

That's exactly what it means. Sure the Oilers have had a good amount of challenges so far but it's not like any of the teams they faced compare to the Panthers and just how dominant they are. Sure the Oilers have been playing a lot better defensively as of lately than what they used to but it's not like they are in the same boat in that category as the Panthers who are the best defensive team in the league.

In the playoffs Oilers D combined +/- is -2, where as the Panthers are a whopping +19.

Florida has no weaknesses up and down the lineup, whereas there are plenty of question marks with the Oilers. The Oilers have 5 players who are the key to their success, but after them there's not a lot material. The Panthers line up is waaay more balanced and they don't have to rely on their top guys nearly as much.
You guys are so full of it, it's actually unreal

Dallas was touted as the deepest team in the NHL before the Oilers beat them.

I can only imagine what your prediction was before that series started.

Also, when you have to bring up +/- to fit your argument, you don't have much of one.

Famous last words there

Atleast now we can agree the oilers are the underdog
Considering your prediction history, I'm glad you disagree

You cherry picked one thing but you also don't realize that other things can wash that out. EDM is the highest scoring team in the playoffs at 5 on 5, virtually a perfect PK and juggernaut of a PP. Special teams is highly needed come playoff time and that's what the Oilers have. Defensively, Paul Maurice himself also said that both teams are almost identical when it comes to defensive analytics. Lastly, Dallas was the team everyone was saying was the most deep and EDM proved that their depth was just as good. /shrug

3rd line goals for: Florida 41, Oilers 26
3rd line goals against: Florida 24, Oilers 27

4th line goals for: Florida 9, Oilers 11
4th line goals against: Florida 13, Oilers 18

3rd pairing goals for: Florida 20, Oilers 10
3rd pairing goals against Florida 17, Oilers 14
(that 3rd pairing doesn't even account for Nurse)
What do you think Edmonton's 3rd line is?
