Blue Jays Discussion: Save some runs for the other games, guys. (Jays score team record 28 runs in Friday night drubbing of Red Sox. Yes, that says 28. In one game)

You're focusing too much on "big" which I put in brackets for a reason. Boston had 5-6 left handed bats to start against right handed pitching. What a bad counter example. The "big" comes into play where there's only one or two lefthanded bats.

Houston faced a ton of lefthanded starting pitching in that post season. Of course their modest lefthanded hitting didn't produce as well. It got them there and would have had the potential to have an effect against different rotations with more righthanded starters.

Next question: when is the last WS champion that didn't have at least one lefthanded starter? I'm going to say the 2015 KC Royals who didn't really use its lone lefty starter as a starter in the post season. I believe this is once in a decade.

Conclusion: This team needs some tweaking. And they've got the assets in the farm system to do it in my opinion.
Handedness does not matter this much lol previous winners won with the elite players they had, regardless of what hand they threw with or what side of the plate they hit on.

Without looking into more recent ones... the '93 Jays had a pretty good rotation.

With Barriera only needing 3.5M to sign we have about 200K left to sign someone from the draft (including the 125K base bonus). Does anyone know if that 125K bonus also applies to UDFA? I ask because if none of our unsigned drafted guys will go for the 200K, it at least gives us a leg up to sign any undrafted guys who have the choice of where they want to sign.

If I'm the Jays every year I would look for a bunch of undrafted college position players who couldn't hit but who are athletic, with elite arm strength, and sign them for a few K. I would then convert them into pitchers. You could probably get a bunch of these guys for less than 500K total and if even one of them turned into a legit major league starter or reliever you'll have produced millions in excess value. Even if a few of them only turned into prospects they would have value in trade.

My number one thing I hope they do with the renovation of the Dome is to bring the outfield seats right to the wall all the way around the outfield. Along with certain seats not actually facing the plate, I feel like these should be almost mandatory fixes now that the field is no longer a dual use.

I still think the Padres are the best trade partner for SPs. Musgrove, Manaea, Clevinger FAs at the end of the year, Snell with one more year, logjam has required them to use Gore and Martinez in the pen. Doubt any of them will fetch much and they could flip a prospect in the deal for catcher/OF help.

With Trent Grisham having an absolutely terrible season this year (and San Diego likely having to find another CF if they don't want to give up on this season), I wonder what it would take to pry him from them.

He's actually faster than Zimmer, and if he ever got his groove back, he could be a starting CF (allowing Springer to play RF more). If he can't, he could play the Zimmer role (though his 82 wRC+ would be significantly better than Zimmer and his D hasn't been great, which is likely due to his bat)

where are you putting the bullpens?

That's pretty crazy that Detroit is already willing to deal Skubal.

Apparently their thought process is whoever misses out on Castillo/Montas will be willing give up a ton for Skubal.

25yo, lefty who can touch 97 with good command that has lots of control contract wise remaining.

This season amongst qualified pitchers he ranks #12 in xFIP

any word about the padres gore and his elbow. i saw him leave a game last week figured if his elbow blew out they may be another team that shifts to pitching help as well.

So Detroit is basically re-re building? Yikes.

The promise of a brighter future with the Baez signing and the likely call ups of Torkelson and Greene all gone. Baez has been horrendous (thank God some people didn't get their way and have him sign in Toronto), Tork was so bad they sent him back to the minors and Greene has been..eh I guess?

Obviously it doesn't mean Tork is a bust yet or anything but that much going wrong to me just reeks organizational failure.

I’m surprised Martinez didn’t make the top 100. Anyway, most of our talent are in low A + the kids we just drafted. By next year or the year after I’d expect the Jays to have a few more guys in the top 100
