Blue Jays Discussion: Save some runs for the other games, guys. (Jays score team record 28 runs in Friday night drubbing of Red Sox. Yes, that says 28. In one game)

Corbin's stuff is softer than paper mache.

Guys who have a hard time cracking 90 on their fastball is going to get absolutely shelled (and he has) in today's game. There's a reason why that contract went sour the moment the Nats signed it.

Corbin was always a low velocity pitcher who got by on precision. Once the game came about hammering the ball, he too got hammered.

He's basically a thinner, paler Ryu at this stage.

Also if the Nats attach Corbin to a Soto package they're dumb as f***.

Nah. I'm well aware who Corbin is.

Ray was here for a season + a deadline and wasn't injured. He was just terrible before because of the control and when someone barreled him they blew him up. He was okay with the Jays for like a month, but still managed to strikeout guys despite his poor control (aka every year but 2021). They then added another 1 year deal because they saw something.

Corbin USED to be good, but he's been bad now 3 years in a row and there's virtually nothing in his profile that dictates him being "unlucky" or "better than he has been". He's probably washed, but @Eyedea knows more than I do in regards to his mechanics so maybe a slight change could do wonders for him.
Did you even read what I wrote? I said maybe Walker can fix Corbin, I never said anything about him being "unlucky" or "better than he has been".

Did you just make up a scenario and run with it lmao?

No but you implying Walker can "do something" with Corbin implies you think there's something that can be tweaked/fixed when in reality Patrick Corbin has been trash for the better part of three seasons.

You're being kind of obtuse by claiming someone else said it.

Baltimore takes Zack Showalter with the first pick of day 3. I would guess there's a relation? He's a pitcher too. Leave him in the pen to get the save once they take the lead.

I know it isnt possible but if it is his son, i would be great if he were named after Zack Britton.

Vladdy & Soto would be best buds. He’d get over it.

Vlad and Soto already have a bromance. Adding another latin player, let alone a Dominican, will REALLY rile up the fans that hate how much fun they have and I’m totally down for it.

Thinking that it's nothing to trade away your franchise player's closest friend in the entire world because he kind of has a bromance with the new guy that he sort of knows is ... borderline sociopathic?

It's a business. Shit happens. I'm saying this as someone who doesn't complain about their shenanigans in the dugout too.

Unless it's being done out of pure malice (the Leafs trading Sittler's buddy Lanny away with the only purpose of pissing the former off) I'm sure Vladdy would get over it eventually.

Weird comp considering Corbin averages 92 on his fastball and can still touch 96. Not to mention Ryu was elite without velo. The game has been about hammering the ball since the roids era. Doesn't matter though if a guy throwing 90 can locate the pitch and/or generate ridiculous spin.

As in Walker can potentially help make some adjustments in his delivery. Not to mention Corbin averages 92 on his fastball and can still touch 96 lmao.

You thinking there's absolutely nothing that can be fixed with Corbin is what's obtuse, I promise you don't wanna get into a pitching mechanic breakdown argument. My limited time on this site and your extensive time has no bearing on whatever prior baseball experience I or you have.

It's a business and shit happens. Sure.

But we shouldn't be minimizing the potential effect of trading away the best friend of our franchise player.

We're going to have to negotiate a monster deal with Guerrero in a couple years and you want that player to feel like family and be willing to take less to stay. Not convince him what a business this actually is.

Maybe it's worth it, but there would definitely be an effect there.

If you'll never trade any player because they have friends on the team, no players would ever get dealt.

That’s like the argument last off season that we shouldn’t trade Lourdes because he’s a friend to everyone and it would hurt the room. We can’t operate on the basis of not moving guys because they are friends. I’m sure trades are hard on players and don’t doubt that’s a reality. But it’s not the jays dumping day Bo because they don’t want to pay him. They would be trading him to make the team notably better. No player wouldn’t get that. Guess what else would make Vladdy want to sign long term. Knowing that management will make tough decisions in an effort to win. It’s also more fun when you can win more and improve your chances of winning the WS

Not that I know who his best friend is or anything but he has been on record as saying that his best friend is Teo, and yet plenty of people are content with throwing Teo's name into trade discussions. The second part of your sentence is unnecessary when Vlad and Soto were in the same signing class and have known each other for years prior. It also doesn't make me sociopathic for realizing that 1. it's a business and Soto is a clear upgrade and 2. Having Vladdy/Teo/Latin contingent will help Soto acclimate to the team and the city.

Since when is Bo Vladdy's best friend? Sure they came up through the system together, and likely have a ton of mutual respect for each other, but when the camera pans to Vladdy in the dugout it's often Gurriel, Teo, and others over there. Perhaps Bo likes to be a lot more serious during games so you can't entirely take that as indication but if I had to guess a list of Vladdy's friends on the team, Bo might not be top 5.

This tone is feeling just a little too familiar.

Minnesota drafted a player named Zac Veen. That’s not going to go over well with the Rockies

I'll put the betting odds for Soto on the Dodgers. They have the player/prospect capital and the money to make it happen.

Lux + Bellinger + May + Vargas for Soto + Corbin

I'd switch my focus to Josh Bell, who is actually putting up more WAR than Soto this year, despite playing 1B/DH. Should be a lot cheaper and allow us to also go out and get a pitcher.
