If the 10th or 11th pick had actually been on the table, Necas would not be a Cane still right now.

On topic: Can’t imagine all 8 years of a Saros extension will look great, but it obviously kept the AAV down if the $7.something number is accurate. Also, agree with others that I can’t imagine Askarov will be a happy camper.

The NMC/NTC part will be telling. If they can trade freely trade Saros in 3-4 years to most of the league, they might keep Askarov and slowly but surely work him in.

This AAV isn't even bad considering what other goalies signed for. Crazy amount of term but a $7.5 million AAV is nice.

It's rumored that the Necas trade is tied to a Guentzel extension, not so much what the return is for Necas. If Guentzel leaves, Necas will remain a Cane.
