Sarnia Sting 2024 - 25 Season Thread, Part II

Solid 1st period. Might be the worst goal Surzycia has given up in his OHL career lol. No clue how he let that go in. Thankfully Young got it right back on a great shift from 12-81-55. Manza had a great 1st IMO.

Gotta love the point production from Fischer & Young this year. Both score in the 1st. While I said I didn't love the idea of a Young-Barr pair I have really liked Barr's play as of late. Been really nice to see.

2nd periods have been a real issue as of late so we'll see how tonights goes.

Bet Surzycia wants that goal back, StingUpdates more I watch more I notice how quick Brown in on transitions and how Filak and especially Beamish just aren't quick enough. Think Wainwright would help that transition break improve with more offense a speed.
Good call too bad you can't email letang tell him what he is totally missing as a coach. Unless letang getting Paid off by someone to play filak as much as he does.

Believe @davewheeler called it a week or two ago but its absurd how often this team lets in 2-3-4 goals in a hurry. They do it again here in their biggest game of the season.

Cant understate enough how much it hurts how truly awful their special teams are.

it happens so much it's crazy... I really notice it when I follow the games online .... id stop checking for 5 mins ... come back and the other team had scored 3 goals.... Im checking the out of town scores right now and holy smokes... worst case scenario playing out for the buzz ...Last place is a very realistic scenario for the buzz right now... and just like that 4-2 Flint... Missing the playoffs 2 straight years is very hard to do. I know ptbo is about to do it too but damn at least they win sometimes. Sting are in a class of their own when it comes to losing.

I put most of the blame on the coaching staff, but I gotta say it has been incredibly disappointing to watch our veteran Fs completely disappear when this team has needed them most.

It's one thing to be super young.
It's one thing to be poorly coached & super young.
It's another thing to be super young, poorly coached & have your vet Fs be non existent.

They stand 0 chance. Vs any team.

Meri go round lines, filak on 1st line and 2nd line alot tonight and beamish with 1st and 4th as well. Are we kidding with this? 6 on 4 and wainwright not on ice when game is 3 on 2? Doucette and Filak on ice? I'm at a loss then shift before pulling goalie 3 mins left Hall Moses beamish on ice?
What are we doing Letang, tanking to get fired might be 1 way to start to see things, maybe just maybe. No way anyone that played Hockey at any level can think what they are doing is a PP?

yeah no I dont disagree I was just trying to show how pathetic the offence is ... misa has 37 power play points and our total leader has 38 lol .... Were all beating a very dead horse at this point. It's sad because many people have stopped commenting on the sting page... its basically 3-4 of us mixed in with random people sometimes ... There's no point in commenting anymore as I've been saying the same thing for literally years.... I dunno.

True very true. It's venting frustration but ya we all agree! Kinda makes no sense what mgmt are allowing this staff to do. Totally feel it's all the staff at this point.

Realistically Letang (& Jeffreys) should've been fired with Haley. You see why they didn't as you don't see many full staff firings mid season, but it'll end up costing them a playoff spot at this rate.

While I'm incredibly frustrated with him you cant really fire him right now. Nobody is gonna come in with 10 games left & them now on the outside looking in to coach for 3 weeks. Putting Matsos as interim would be a waste of time. You cant implement a new system in such a short time period.

Were all beating a very dead horse at this point. It's sad because many people have stopped commenting on the sting page... its basically 3-4 of us mixed in with random people sometimes ... There's no point in commenting anymore as I've been saying the same thing for literally years.... I dunno.

Definitely sucks. 2 Years ago was a blast with the page popping & the team rolling. Crazy how fast everything can turn, eh? It's wild how poor coaching can suck the life out of a fan base.

IMO this is the final nail in the coffin for this season.

The Guelph home & home is the season. This was the nail in the coffin for 6th. They still would be betting favourite (if the OHL had such a thing lol) to come 8th with how hard OSs schedule is & GUE being 4 behind.

If Sarnia loses both of those then the season will be done.

Funniest part is the most Sarnia thing to do isn't coming 2nd last & picking top 3 it'll be winning a game they shouldn't to win 8th by 1 point so they get LDN round 1 while the team we beat out by 1 point wins the lottery. lol.

I Hope the top 4 players in the draft are elite.

@SarniaStingFan is better for draft knowledge. He might know the top guys fairly well. I know one of the top guys is Charlie Murata. Seen on the draft thread some knowledgable ppl saying the top 3-4 is strong, but the rest of round 1 is a huge debate/clump of guys.

Well I disagree, what system you see with Letang and Jefferies even if keep similar systems change and fix pp and this team will be better right away! Just teach the D to box out rebounds and run a hard working forcheck play trap
That's playoff hockey this team will be better. Can't not do something cUae watching 3 more weeks of the same old junk is disheartening. Someone would jump at opportunity to make team better in 3 weeks cause truth is whoever came in would be better right away and would have nothing to lose.

Legwand and Seca could easily step on the bench with matsos.
