HERE WE GO! It’s that time of the year again where we all need a little positivity to distract us from the Sharks so let’s look at the Sharks prospects!

Vote for whoever you think is the Sharks top prospect left. The whole point of this is to get different opinions and different values. Use whatever definition you want for top. If you value long term potential, NHL readiness, translatable skills, whatever it is, go for it!

As always, it’s more fun if you post why you feel your vote is the top prospect as it draws more discussion and interactivity. NO FIGHTING IN THIS THREAD.

This will stay open for 2 days. Cut off is 40 NHL games. Let me know who I should add next.

To add: Max McCue

Rankings:
1. William Eklund-92.9%
2. Thomas Bordeleau-87.5%
3. Ryan Merkley-55.6%
4. Daniil Gushchin-48.3%
5. Gannon Laroque-24.7%
6. Filip Bystedt-39.0%
7. Brandon Coe-43.5%
8. Mattias Havelid-34.3%
9. Cam Lund-41.0%
10. Ozzy Wiesblatt-32.8%
11. Benjamin Gaudreau-28.8%
12. Artemi Kniazev-35.3%
13. Tristen Robins-29.1%
14. Scott Reedy-26%
15. Michael Fisher-31.8%
16. Strauss Mann-51.1%
17. Santeri Hatakka-46.9%
18. Nick Cicek-33.3%
19. Adam Raska-39.5%
20.

Feel free to use this thread to discuss your top 20 list, where you think the consensus was right, wrong, etc. any honorable mentions, or anything about prospect rankings! Same rules apply though. Don’t be a dick.

This is more based on potential, rather than who is likely the most NHL ready now or going to play 4th line.
PS. I haven't done analytics, these are more on a gut feeling. If someone has a different opinion on some of this, I would like to hear so I can get another perspective

My list:
1. William Eklund
Blue chip prospect, elite top line playmaker potential
2. Thomas Bordeleau
Middle 6 center, playmaking abilities & confidence
3. Gannon Laroque
Top 4 d, still very young, could become anything
4. Mattias Havelid
Top 4 d, same as Gannon Laroque
5. Ryan Merkley
Top 4 d, needs to take the next step this coming season or he drops down
6. Daniil Gushchin
Top 6 boom or bust type of player
7. Brandon Coe
Top 9, but top 6 if he blossoms to a NHL caliber player with same style
8. Benjamin Gaudreau
Future starter potential
9. Cam Lund
Top 9, I loved the hype around the 3v3, have to see a year in college
10. Filip Bystedt
Middle to bottom 6 big center, could save the future of our bottom 6
11. Tristen Robins
Middle 6 potential, has to take a remarkable step to fill a spot
12. Artemi Kniazev
Bottom 4 d, could suprise us but until then I see boom or bust
13. Scott Reedy
Swiss army knife imo, could be used anywhere. I think his potential is middle 6, but likely bottom 6
14. Michael Fisher
Don't know yet, but I believe after one year in college he could climb this list even more
15. Santeri Hatakka
Anywhere if he clicks with a defencemen with offence
16. Strauss Mann
Hard to say for now
17. Nick Cicek
Bottom 4 pair, have to see some more
18. Ozzy Weisblatt
Bottom 6 energy
19. Adam Raska
Bottom 6 energy
20. Eetu Mäkiniemi
Hard to say for now

I would've done:

1. Eklund
2. Bordeleau
3. Guschin
4. Coe
5. Merkley
6. Havelid
7. Bystedt
8. Lund
9. Laroque
10. Wiesblatt
11. Mann
12. Gaudreau
13. Robins
14. Reedy
15. Kniasev
16. Fisher
17. Hatakka
18. Raska
19. Makaniemi
20. Cicek

Notes: Merkley could get passed by a lot if he doesn't make steps this year. Lund and Fisher could move up depending on they do in new leagues. I think one of Mann or Gaudreau eventally become our starter in the long run.

Future top six/top four NHL player: Eklund
Future top nine/top six NHL player: Bystedt, Havelid
Future depth NHL player: Laroque, Cicek, Hatakka, Raska

Who knows on the goalies. Everyone else is probably a bust.

San Jose
Future top-6/top-4: Eklund, outside shot of Gushchin
Future top-9: Bordeleau, Bystedt
Future top-4: Havelid, Laroque
Future depth forwards: 2 of Coe/Robins/Wiesblatt/Lund (kind of cheating but I'll bet that 2 out of 4 these making it)
Future depth defensemen: Hatakka, Kniazev, Merkley (3rd pairing PP specialist if he takes a bit step), Cicek
Goalies: Who the f*** knows lol
