HERE WE GO! It’s that time of the year again where we all need a little positivity to distract us from the Sharks so let’s look at the Sharks prospects!

Vote for whoever you think is the Sharks top prospect left. The whole point of this is to get different opinions and different values. Use whatever definition you want for top. If you value long term potential, NHL readiness, translatable skills, whatever it is, go for it!

As always, it’s more fun if you post why you feel your vote is the top prospect as it draws more discussion and interactivity. NO FIGHTING IN THIS THREAD.

This will stay open for 2 days. Cut off is 40 NHL games. Let me know who I should add next.

To add: Liam Gilmartin, Artemi Guryev, Max McCue

Raska, Cicek and Hatakka have a better chance to play 200+ NHL games than anyone in the system outside of Eklund and maybe Bystedt. Absurd to see them ranked so low.

Agreed, at least on Hatakka. None of those guys are flashy, but they're very good at the roles they play.
Exactly and prospects like Gushchin and Merkley are clearly not good enough for the roles they need to play in the NHL.

Well Merkley has a bit of a head start because he's played more games than Santeri, and he's a former first rounder. I think he reaches 200 games no matter what as long as he keeps on playing in North America, and this is if he never finds his actual ceiling.

Gushchin you have some sort of vendetta against because he's small and a DWJr pick. Can Raska play 200 games and Gushchin play none? Sure. They're wildly different players. Gushchin just has a way higher ceiling and at least a chance to play up in the lineup. Whether or not he reaches it is to be seen, and your statement again is hyperbole and it's the equivalent of smelling the dirt and proclaiming rain in 2 weeks.

Went with Raska cuz he's a fun wrecking ball with no hands. Hatakka has a lot more projectable stuff but it's also less entertaining and safe.

Voting also isn't necessarily done based on odds of making the NHL and contributing...some folks here have mentioned they vote based on upside (even if bust potential is high as well).
