HERE WE GO! It’s that time of the year again where we all need a little positivity to distract us from the Sharks so let’s look at the Sharks prospects!

Vote for whoever you think is the Sharks top prospect left. The whole point of this is to get different opinions and different values. Use whatever definition you want for top. If you value long term potential, NHL readiness, translatable skills, whatever it is, go for it!

As always, it’s more fun if you post why you feel your vote is the top prospect as it draws more discussion and interactivity. NO FIGHTING IN THIS THREAD.

This will stay open for 2 days. Cut off is 40 NHL games. Let me know who I should add next.

To add: Ethan Cardwell, Adam Raska, Mitch Russell, Eetu Makiniemi

Rankings:
1. William Eklund-92.9%
2. Thomas Bordeleau-87.5%
3. Ryan Merkley-55.6%
4. Daniil Gushchin-48.3%
5. Gannon Laroque-24.7%
6. Filip Bystedt-39.0%
7. Brandon Coe-43.5%
8. Mattias Havelid-34.3%
9. Cam Lund-41.0%
10. Ozzy Wiesblatt-32.8%

SJSharks72 - thank you for setting this all up so we can engage in this exercise, much appreciated. I meant to say that earlier!

Lots of good choices here. As our resident Cicek fanboy, that’s where I went with my vote. Still though, fair amount of players who could pan out which is a positive.

I really like Kniazev, he is the poor man’s Merkley. Not the same level of ultra high end offensive skill, but a better defender from both a positional and effort perspective. I was not impressed with him the first half of the year with the Cuda, but in hindsight he was probably adjusting to the pro game. Looked really good the second half of the year, and I considered him the second best Dman on the Cuda behind Cicek from what I had seen. As always, my disclaimer is that Hobo is all things Cuda and should weigh in.

Considering the current state of the Sharks, at least getting to slot 10 we still have a good half dozen or more prospects on the list that could make the big show at some point. While we are definitely in need of top 6 high end skill and scoring as everyone knows, if we can get some legit NHL caliber 3rd and 4th line players out of here I’d take that at slot 10 and beyond. We also have some very intriguing goalie prospects, but as has been discussed at length they are harder to predict.
