cool. joe thornton's last season in the nhl maybe?

It would be fitting.

Jumbo's last year in the NHL and he gets a great send-off midway through the season.
And.....
...San Jose gets to show the rest of the hockey world the sweeping and contagious phenomenon started by Joe, that is kinda exclusive to San Jose really:

Not like he'd make the all Star team...
he definitely would. the all-star team only required 1 member from each team and jt will defnitiely be one of the sharks members. a sharks legend on his last season >>>>> player putting up all-star worth numbers

Shouldn't it go to Anaheim? SJ hosted in 1997, LA in 2002 & 2017.

Anaheim has never hosted and they've been in the NHL since 93-94. 25th anniversary for them next season.

If I'm not mistaken, Anaheim really hasn't pushed too hard for one of late. Still seems silly that both of the other California teams have hosted twice since the Ducks entered the league without one.

On that note, if Pittsburgh doesn't get one (last hosted: 1990) in the Sid/Geno era I'll be a bit bummed.

and anaheim is still the only team in the NHL that has never hosted an ASG or draft (aside from vegas)

i guess the NHL assumes that since LA has gotten it twice it's good enough for anaheim too

Seeing as Sid/Geno have done a number of things to avoid participating in the ASG, I could only assume they don’t share your disappointment.

Not like he couldn’t be voted in...

What has Geno done to avoid the ASG apart from get hurt before it? That time he 'skipped' the All-Star Game he wound up missing a few weeks.

Sid would put on a good face for the home crowd, even if his contempt for the event is as obvious as it is with the majority of hockey fans.

Winnipeg Jets never got the ASG or the draft.

the thrashers hosted the ASG in 08

but sure, the franchise hasn't hosted either since they moved to winnipeg. but that was 7 years ago. the ducks have been a franchise for almost 25 years now

I don't think Winnipeg has ever hosted either have they?

Edit: Yeah just checked it out. Neither Winnipeg nor Atlanta has hosted a draft. If you count Atlanta they hosted the ASG in 2008 but that does SFA for the people if Winnipeg.

I think Winnipeg would be a cool place to have the draft/allstar game their fan base should be able to come up with some sort of creative chant.

the SAP Center is a dump. Why would they want to have the all-star game there?
