Depends on the game for resale. We sold our Saturday 12-14 tix (BuF) at a big premium. Any weekend game is money back + for resale of season tix. Also any BOS, NYR, PIT, PHi games are pretty bankable. But SJS on a Tuesday night? Ain’t happening.

Oilers fan in peace (transplanted to Carolina). Couldn't make the Oilers game in November, but I love visiting NHL arenas and I'm hoping to see the game vs the Red Wings on March 26.

Are there any hotels by the arena that are Metro accessible? My plan is to come to DC on Amtrak on 3/25 and just backpack/take the Metro around town so that I'm not driving in DC traffic.

BTW, had the privilege of watching the Caps on a vacation to Anaheim several years ago. Ovi gave me my money's worth with 2G 2A in a 5-3 win; sorry to see him decline, but thankful for that special memory.
Hello again! Requoting almost a year later to say thank you for your recommendations. Had a great time the first time and found great accommodation at CitizenM in Noma. Very reasonably priced and right close to the Metro.

Also, I should be back in DC to see the game against Edmonton on Feb. 23. Already got the CitizenM booked! Looking forward to being back in your beautiful city.

Hey all! Going to be in the DC area this weekend and see the Caps practice Friday morning. We've never been. Suggestions on arrival time or whether practices are usually crowded? Also, any chance to get stuff signed? My daughter has a Wilson jersey that she grew out of & would be neat to get it signed, if that is possible. I saw some other posts but they are older and im not sure if all the info is still the same. Thanks!!

That’s awesome! I suggest getting there early because you have a few factors working against you in terms of crowd size… kids are on winter break from school, the Caps are good, and Ovi is close to being back. I’d probably aim to get there around 9:30am and you can check out the team store if you need to kill time.

They also have a new parking system but since you’ve never been it shouldn’t matter. They moved from manned gates to scanning a QR code to pay for parking and a lot of people forget because there are no gates in or out anymore, so don’t forget to pay for parking on your phone before going in.

As for autographs, there used to be an autograph area right near the players entrance in the parking lot. If you’re facing the building it’s the right side that’s the Caps facility and off limits to the public. Staying after and standing there is probably your best bet but I would temper expectations on getting autographs, I think it’s harder than it was pre-Covid. If all else fails, just follow the crowd!

Hello again, trip to washington in 2nd half of march to catch the three game homestand locked in - I even managed to get a friend to come along. We're looking to book trip, buy hockeytickets and book place to live prior to new years.

Sadly with Ovys injury the chance of catching the game where he's going to pass Gretzky went from plausible to extremely small but I was already set on going anyway so that's allright :>

Anyways, since I'm a bit dumb when it comes to allocating good places to live - and by good I mean not that far away from where one want to be, your own shower and bathroom and that's about it.

I'll just add a map - where do I want to live?

Would recommend staying away from places I’ve highlighted for a variety of reasons including availability of public transportation, lack of walkable bars/restaurants/destinations, and safety. NE and SE DC are not the safest areas after dark, unfortunately. Others here might disagree but would do some research if you decide to stay in one of those neighborhoods.

Not really been back in DC walking around since covid but would agree with this in general. You also might consider something along the orange line from Ballston/Clarendon/Rossalyn on the VA side. Rossalyn is right across for Georgetown.
