He’s lost a step in his old age and it certainly doesn’t help that Joe spends the broadcast talking during the play A LOT. Like constantly talking and interrupting Sam about stupid shit.

The best part is a lot of the time he's interrupting Sam just to repeat, in different verbiage, things Sam just said in his play by play. It's either that or a ridiculous story no one wants to hear.

Sam is a legend and I get annoyed at people who think he should hang it up. The stumbles don’t bother me and he is a man who loves the game and loves talking about it. Have to enjoy these moments. Everyone is getting older, and have to enjoy the present now because pretty soon it will be history and who knows what the future will bring.

I love Sam. I wish he would never leave and I will be devastated when he does. I don't care that he makes mistakes. It's like your Grandpa calling you the wrong name. Who cares? You still love the shit out of the old timer. Sammy is like a Grandpa that most of us went to all our Ranger games with. He's priceless and irreplaceable.

I love Sam and even when he stumbles, I honestly couldn't care less.

Joe on the other hand.

Joe gets a bad rap. I've given him a hard time here & there, but you learn to appreciate him when you're watching games in other markets. There's not too many guys who would be an improvement. Off the top of my head, Eddie O, Darren Pang, Ray Ferraro & Shane Hnidy probably top the list. Otherwise, there's a lot of really bad analysts out there.

Sam Rosen is as much part of Rangers hockey lore as the zamboni, Henrik Lundqvist and Brian Leetch.

I couldn't care less if he makes a fumble, its part of the charm of commenting on a chaotic game. When Sam is on, hockey is on, and that is all that matters.

Sam's great. The Rangers version of Vin Scully. This post is funny timing because the last week all of him/Michelleti/doofus Valliquette have not been good.

Joe overall is fine. His optimism can be a little much and cringe but that's 50% him and 50% me based on how my week is going/life.

Let's be real. He's a better color commentator than 90% of the league. This fanbase just can't get over that he worked for the Islanders prior and that he replaced a legend in JD.

It's quite hypocritical of this fanbase because Howie Rose is so loved for the Matteau call yet when he went to work FOR the Islanders 99% of the fanbase was saying "I understand it's a career move" or "Sam is blocking him".

Anyone who complains about Sam and/or Joe other than the occasional bad call or error should name three better announcers or color commentators. If you're going to whine, give some replacement ideas.

Vally annoyed me last night during the pregame show. Basically made it sound like Arizona is not even worth the Rangers time and the Rangers should blow them away . If the Rangers didn’t surge back he’d be eating his foot right now. I don’t care who you play, always respect your opponent. Playing down to your competition is going to get you more losses that wins.

Vally has been terrible the last games with the Schneider trade talk and last night as well.

Even in his old age with his mistakes, Sam is better than a lot of announcers around the league. I lived in the Bay Area and used to watch the Sharks, and I’ve seen other broadcasts around the country, and I can’t even begin to describe how much better Sam (and to some extent Joe) is than everybody else.

You can’t deny MSG knows how to put out a great looking and sounding product.

Sam is pretty good, but he is getting older and the only reason people don't want him to retire yet is cause John will likely replace him and he is a nerd.

Joe, on the other hand, sucks. Fire this f***ing clown or duck tape his mouth shut during the play. No one gives a f*** what the coach or GM said to you earlier that day when you "spoke" to them. He was never even associated with the Rangers. I look around the league and I think we are the only team that has a guy that played, but never for our team. So weird.

Don't get me wrong, I hate the homerism of Boston's broadcast team, but they have the personality of the city, and through that it permeates everywhere in the team. The organ during the game, the songs, the chants, the attitude of the team on the ice. The Rangers are too business and not enough New York. And then the team just feels too business, with dumb slogans that a New Yorker/Greater Tri-State area native would never say. Haha

maybe on the rare occasion that the sound isn’t out of sync with the video :sarcasm:

Sam has lost a step but its nice to see him and Joe rejuvenated by the team playing well this year. The organization was clearly getting beaten down by all the losing the past few years. The call on Lindgren's buzzer beater was classic Sam Rosen.
