Obviously you only trade Murray is he wants more than 8 Million. And it depends if Jarry or Gustavsson have developed right by then.

Its three years down the line, so not really worrying about it.

Say we don't really need anything at the TD and have 4-5M of cap space and Cullen wants to come back, itching to play again and he's been staying in shape and skating back home in Minny this whole time. Would you offer him a 1 year 3M deal? sure overpayment but we got the cap space and it would be for like 2 months of playing for a 3peat. Rowney becomes a HS, then he retires for good.

We know they are gonna go after a 3C.

My question now is, can we have a viable post where we can look at all possible targets from each team? Not that all teams will have guys actually available for trade.

Maybe just add it to the OP that you posted Cole and label the section as "3C TARGETS."

One stop shop.

So apparently it's being reported that Bergevin is leaving it up to Radulov and Markov who wants to come back. He can only afford one of them at what he's offered.

I'd love to have Markov here. Exactly the type of guy that can be Letang insurance from an offensive standpoint. He's looking for a two year deal. That's fine by me. His offense has actually gone up in recent years and he relies on his mind for the game more than anything so a crazy drop off isn't likely. And it wouldn't interfere with the contracts we have to deal with in 2-3 years.

It makes me giggle like a schoolgirl when I see we've got two players who are capable of scoring 20+ goals for us this season both making less than $750k.

These guys on their ELCs who are already producing like top six players is such a game changer.

I wont want him at 6M per, maybe 4 or 4.5M. But then we would have Letang, Schultz, Markov wanting PP minutes. Might then have to have Crosby and Malkin have their own PP units and Markov or Schultz would rotate between 1 and 2.

I don't see how what im saying is ridiculous. Goalies just arnt worth that much money. Bye bye Murray if he wants to be paid over 8 mil.

What you're saying is ridiculous because you're speculating about contract demands for a guy whose new deal hasn't even technically kicked in yet. Worry about what Murray might want in 3 years, not now. Furthermore, if in 3 years Murray is the best goalie in the NHL, it is most certainly not a foregone conclusion that you let him walk for that money.

You also got Rust who had 15 and makes under 1M.Sucks the idiots sent Sprong back too late and burned a year of his ELC too early...

Our cap situation is not bad, but does not allow for Markov. The D is set anyway, money should be reserved for a proper 3C to ensure another cup run.

Oh yeah, please stop talking about MMs contract, it is 2017 for **** sake.

If you go by history, elite goalies usually sign for roughly 9-11% of cap with 11% being more usual (13-14% if you are Lunqvist or Price ;)). With modest cap increase of 2M per year you would be at 81M cap in 3 years. These percentages would translate to 7.3 - 8.9M, so you are looking at 8.5M-9.0M cap hit most likely.

I just had a long post deleted because I was writing it while the old thread was being closed.

Sigh...

Anyway, the nuts and bolts of it were this: I think the Pens are waiting for a couple teams to finalize some other deals. Dallas and Vegas are the most likely.

If Dallas signs Radulov (they were reported to be negotiating with him by Pierre LeBrun yesterday), then that gives them flexibility with Spezza and could make Radek Faksa available.

Vegas' addition of Kruger gives them 7-8 healthy guys who can play center, plus Grabovski. Marschessault likely plays the wing, Bellemare is a plug, and who knows what they think about Lindberg. And they've said Haula is staying.

But Karlsson and Eakin are likely available.

Karlsson, Eakin and Faksa all kill penalties, all are traditionally centers. Each has question marks. Karlsson's not great on faceoffs. Eakin had offensive issues last year and has a higher cap hit, but was very good on draws. And Faksa will cost more in the actual trade because he's young and an RFA.

But it wouldn't surprise me for one of those three to end up as Penguins.

And our biggest problem is finding a way to get a 3C in the next 9 months. We have it very, very good.

Yep, it's already an amazing off season! My buddy i watch Pens games with is not happy we let Fleury, Kunitz and the others go because they helped us win a cup and is worried now, i told him we just won back to back cups and we need to let players go so we can get fresher legs, hell younger legs even because of fatigue of keeping the band together will slow us down. It's true, if you're going to keep them around the whole team wiill be tired instead of just a few. Bring in new guys that aren't tired, that are wanting a cup and will do whatever they can to get us another cup. Hawks did that in their 3 cups in 6 years and it was a big reason for them getting those cups, gotta keep the team fresh and hungry. Shero wont understand.
