Sacco leaves Swayman in for 8 GA. Did he cross a line?

Id guess the goaltender wants to see it through maybe? But then obviously you have the infamous Patrick Roy version of this in Montreal.

The way I see it, yes, it was a dumb move, but I've never thought of Sacco as the brightest coach and these guys tend to do stupid stuff. It's not like they had a back-to-back. Besides, Swayman has been below average this year coming off the holdout which the Bruins as a team didn't manage well. The U.S. brass should have named Stolarz to the team!

Lowry was interviewed after the game and of course the press was all over the fight sequence. Lowry said that the Jets needed to respond and he appreciated that Zads took the fight. Same thing when Arniel was asked about it he downplayed it all and said the Jets stuck up for Gus and once the fights happened it was over, end of story.
I think Lowry challenged the Bruins bench after Frederic took out our Swede. Marchand wasn't going to take that one. Zadorov did, and it went back to hockey after that, which the Bruins played badly on this night, with no goaltending help either.

Agreed. Pretty lame move by Frederic fighting a total non fighter. Not to mention throwing after ko'ing the guy.

What I dont get is Lowry challenging Zadorov after. If you want to send a message that what Frederic did was unacceptable, he should have destroyed Pastrnak.
Maybe Lowry can go Frederic next game and knock some sense into him.
Guys played like junk all season. Please fight him instead.
Thanks

Bruins defense has been horrendous. They give up way to many uncontested high danger chances and leave their goaltending out to dry.

Bruins coach Joe Sacco left goalie Jeremy Swayman in for 8 GA tonight in Winnipeg.

Did he needlessly humiliate his star goalie in doing so, and will it impact Sacco’s standing in the Bruins’ locker room?

Is there poetic justice in allowing Sw8man’s tally to match the AAV and term he fought so bitterly for?

Where should a coach draw the line in such games?
It might raise Saccos standing in the locker room. I don’t think swayman is that well liked anymore based on his greedy little bitch attitude.

I've changed my opinion on coaches leaving goalies in. It's not good to break a goalies confidence and know that your coach isn't looking out for them. Goalies and Teams have bad nights.

But with the goalie market changing, the contracts getting higher and higher, and how they view themselves as the best player on the team, I've changed my tune. If a goalie can't bounce back because he's rattled by giving up a lot of goals, then he shouldn't be paid that high contract/long term. If a goaleis confidence is shattered or he can't handle the metal part of the having a bad night or the team having a bad night in front of him, then don't ask for 8+ million.

Was was watching the game last night - that 3rd period was brutal

But hey, he wanted the $$$, the starting role, wanted everyone know that he's one of the top netminders in the league...Last night he got it all and then some.

If he's gonna get all pissy about it...Oh well :D

Say it with me class. There’s no elite goalies anymore. Shesterkin and Swayman aren’t elite like the standards of the old days. Sw8yman is just another dope who played over his head for a little time.

On a serious note - yeah - he benefitted having Ullmark with him sharing the crease.

Sacco should be alternating goalies. Swayman has absolutely no history of playing well in a number one role.
Sacco should absolutely not be alternating him like a 1A/1B tandem. Swayman just negotiated a contract to be paid like a #1, he's gotta go live up to it now.

Ullmark also held out for the same money (albeit with a different team). Could he let in 8 as well?

Sacco wanted to pull him at 7 but Swayman wanted to hold out for 8.5
