If this leads to us moving people out for Fowler, and we managed to only pay a bit over $6/year, I'm ok with it. Still not thrilled.

Edit: It's only 6 per? Ok, way more on board with that! Could've been a lot worse, and with the frontloading, it makes the back end a lot easier to move if needed

is the 6 confirmed? kinda funny that lucic, okposo and erikson all got 6. even if it was 6.5 it doesn't seem like a terrible deal

edit...found it on tsn being reported as 6. it seems quite reasonable and the sabres are improved with that signing. i wonder if that signing gives vesey another reason to sign here as well. i know our playoffs hopes last season may have been a pipe dream but they seem reasonable this year.

his birthday is april 1988 so this covers him from 28-34 and hopefully a few months of 35 when we're in the playoffs, if he's still on the team in seven years.

6x7?
Yup, I'm okay with this.
Good signing. In my head I had said "anything under 7 per and I can roll with this."

6 is a lot better than 8.

And 8 would've been better than 12.

I'm thinking RFAs and Vesey and they probably call it an offseason.

Pros:

- We get another PP option on the wing
- he's a FANTASTIC lockerroom guy
- signing a guy atop the heap is a HUGE statement leaguewide
- extremely skilled, great hands
- ability to be strong in possession

CONS:

- doesn't play big like his size would indicate
- extremely inconsistent
- decision-making goes up and down, specifically on the breakout and in the neutral zone
- long term may be a total crap deal at the end
- he doesn't tilt the ice like a 7yr/$40+m player should

If it's indeed $6m frontloaded, I can live with that.
