Sabres are entirely new franchise. They cleared out the locker room problem and overnight they had a good room and started to actually develop as a team. Go figure.

The Islanders were one game away from winning the cup in 2021

It's clearly them
yeah...but the Sabres have had, what, one year to make their claim? how's that fair? pieces of the Eichel-return weren't even on last years team. with the state of the franchises TODAY, it's definitely a question for moving forward.

But it's a weird poll anyway, because the Sabres got assets back, while the Isles were left empty handed and with holes to fill, which they did admirably. We're comparing apples to apple seeds.

Too soon to tell, although I think it's possible the Sabres win a cup before the Islanders do, and if they do that trumps the Islanders' two conference finals.

Which team came out better and which team has been better are two completely different questions.

The Sabres came out better because they traded a disgruntled star for assets. The isles got nothing in return for the departure of their star.

The Isles have been the better team since the departure of their star, but still too early to tell for the Sabres. Only a year or two away from playoff contention and then who knows.
