Anyone actually think that this team would have won the last 2 (or more), close, tight games with any one of the last say... 4(?) coaches behind the bench? Anyone other than Lindy Ruff?

I don't.

Ruff is building this team to win the tight close ones.
Maybe two years ago late in the season when they were close right down to the wire.

This looked like a team whose vets stepped up to steady the ship. I thought Clifton had a solid game on the blueline, including deciding to not let Gudas f*** up another Sabre without at least trying to respond. Zucker seemed to will them back into this. McLeod was good, so too was Tuch especially in OT. The vets got a lot done. The goalie was calm and didn't get rattled by a screened goal or a weird deflection goal. The PK was solid.

Quinn's best game, but he needs to finish. Dahlin and Power are great in attack, Jokiharju is meh, Lindy even played Clifton with Power at the end. Cozens is bad, he should sit or go on the wing. Kulich stud.

I'm just a fount of friendly fire tonight, but I'm sorry Dunleavy is just bad. He's such drag. He's got some intense Canadian winner's guilt to be so drab about a rookie scoring a wild OT winner.

Going from even late RJ to him has been like walking out of Studio 54 straight into a madrassa. He's too much of a stiff to become an institution here, inshallah.

Based on what I saw tonight and of late, assuming Thompson is still out…
here is what I would like to see for tomorrow’s lines. You could flip flop Peterka and Zucker. It won’t happen and is just wishful thinking.

Peterka McLeod Tuch
Zucker Kulich Quinn
Benson Krebs Rosen
Malenstn Cozens Lafferty

I would also like to see Kulich bump Cozens from PP1

excited yutes like the team that started the season 0 4 1

touch passing fast precise sryrysa slow until it clicks

having zucker certainly helped

we're ten and five since the league purgatory of starting early and overseas necessary to exercise the first year .

you have to like the buy in of the entire team to lindy creating the identity of OUR Buffalo Sabres , that I grew up with before ruff entered in 79 and apparently agreed w and amplified the best parts of 1974 to 76 , 99.and 05 too 07

fun to watch Hockey without hesitation and changimg strategies and adjusting each period w grace

I usually like Dunleavy. Tonight I thought he was tired and slow.

Tommorow and first home game locks IT in for the first quarter

It won't be easy to change universal perception It will be a struggle but if they can, especially on road without Tage it's a very positive first step for Lundy KA karmanos and pegula w building and the fragile daily vibe within the building , top to bottom

Dunleavy said after the game "Remember the Pittsburgh Penguins a big part of the comeback win for the Sabres here tonight". What was that in reference to? Admittedly I don't follow as closely as I used to, but how were the Penguins a big part of the game tonight?

I would like to see Rosen but it probably won’t happen. He isn’t a 4th line player per say but who knows.

I know this is nitpicking but I am a little annoyed they gave John Gibson the game’s 3rd Star over UPL… that’s it for tonight… great win and over .500

I wrote down the same except NAK instead of Lafferty.

As I thought, it seems to me that Quinn's problem was physical, maybe some injury or just his legs haven't fully recovered. Today he skated completely differently, his movements and speed are much better, and he didn't look drunk. On the other hand, Cozens... there seems to be a problem in his head.

Great. And he otherwise floundered and made bad plays, bad decisions, and played baby shit soft. I'll happily take the good with the bad when it outweighs the bad. Until then, I'm going to bitch about his poor play.
How many pucks get lost in his skates a game is surpassing Tuch missing the net.

I watched until the end of the 2nd. I loved that Clifton stepped up for his teammate.

I'm flabbergasted Benson stepped up for a teammate. Full props to the kid. He didn't know what he was doing, but he stepped up, and he's only 19!

All that being said, I can live with Benson not fighting again for a long time. By all means, he should get involed in the scrums and grab somebody, but his brain is too damn important. I don't want him to get Cozen'd.

Lindy post-game comments -

Lindy Looks tired. Just don't want anything bad to happen. Hope the wife has a watchful eye on him.

Kulich has bulked up his upper body!

------

Couple things need to happen now.
1) Consistency, Consistency, Consistency!
2) Improve Shots, way too many shot going wide and over still (Hope Lindy starts implementing more practice shooting drills)
3) Continue to get improvements from Quinn, then results hopefully
4) Cozens is the enigma for me, I have no clue lol
5) Improve the weak spots in the lineup (Joker for ie) and do not rest on laurels!

Good points:
-Great to see Kulich coming along, we ask again, maybe he is a center ?
-Leadership on the team and sticking up for each other. Clifton and Benson changed the game.
-Power in T. Myers mode (leading the league in 5x5 Dman pts), want to see him take the next step physically.
-UPL is back on top of his game
-Sabres were great on faceoffs all night
