Seems like coaching orthodoxy to stick with a lineup after a winning game. Put me in the "let's be a little proactive in spite of our success" camp.
That is certainly a thing but I thought Ruff said something about hoping he was ready for tomorrow. As in he’s still not 100% ready to return.

Plus I can’t think of many coaches that have that orthodoxy and apply it to their #1 center. Or any of their top players for that matter.

I think they were referring to keeping Laf on the 2nd line, not whether or not Tage would play.

Yeah, eeking out a 1-goal win on the strength of the goaltending and a deflection is hard to replicate. But NHL coaches often fall into certain patterns and running out the same lineup is often that.

I hope my criticism of Lafferty sees him pop one tonight and that line score multiple goals. It used to work with Vanek… 🤣
Haha I think there's still something to be said about keeping a lineup together after a W on a roadie with a b2b tmrw. Maybe a little more time to get it together, watch some film, morning skates, ya know, coaching. If some trends don't turn positive, switch it up for a spark tmrw before heading back home.

I would rather put Lafferty between Quinn and Zucker. Let Kulich and Benson drag Cozens from out of his own ass.

Yuri did do a lot of core work this summer. He’s clearly a lot stronger, but I don’t know if he’s that strong. And of course Benson is a Carnie so they can do a lot of unusual things. But even that might be too much.

Not saying this is a must-win.

But if we miss the playoffs, losses like these would stick out.

There will be plenty. The Penguins game with the off-side goal and then getting scored on the PP the Pens got after the challenge remains the biggest blot. Stinking up against the Habs the other night is another.

The aggravating thing is that everybody knew having the youngest roster and depending on kids was mind bogglingly stupid and all but assured to fail. The team desperately needed some quality vets and Adams pulled a Carlos Beltran in game 7 of the 2006 NLCS.

Let's leave the Adams stuff for the Adams thread.

FYI: For anyone going to the San Jose game tomorrow there is a meetup after the game for Bill's Mafia, Ex Pats, Sabres fans, etc.
