Preds log jam at LD and McDonagh should be the odd man out. What would a team be willing to give up for him?
How much cap are Preds eating?Preds log jam at LD and McDonagh should be the odd man out. What would a team be willing to give up for him?
In principle I don't think the Preds would care too much about eating a full 50% if it got them a good enough return. Even though it'd be their final retention slot. I'm just not sure that McDonagh even at $3.375M for 3 years gets them much of a return? How much cap are Preds eating?
I believe it's still in place and he'd have to waive it again. CapFriendly still lists him as having one (submits a 12 team no trade list in his case)Does the NTC still exist considering he already waived it once? I always forget how this works.
He's not a bad player. You wouldn't want him at $6.75M, of course. But Tampa gave him away just due to their own Cap issues, I don't think either side ever had any illusions about where he was at vs. his contract. Preds knowingly and intentionally took a "veteran leader" #4/5D at around a 2X Cap premium, which is still what he is today, because they could get him for free.Tampa got out just at the right time.
