A swap of two of the worst players in the league, actually think it makes sense. Only problem I would see is Pegula not wanting to take on the actual salary difference

HFNYR: "We need to scratch, demote, or outright release this absolute dogwater hockey player. He is objectively the worst hockey player on this planet. His presence is the reason I hate my children."

(General Board): He provides defensive depth, grit, and bite on the backend.
the truth:
when sufficiently healthy, eye test confirms he is sufficiently mobile, effective clear the crease guy who stands up for teammates
the prob is he has taken lots of wear and tear
cumulative damage is real
shows signs of back to contributing for the moment
but this guy is a stop gap, not a long term option

There is a contingent of NYRHFB fans who have had Lindgren on their S List since the day we got him. Probably the same people who were negative on Girardi even in his All Star year.

Lindgren has been playing through injury quite a bit the past 2 seasons. So for me he gets a pass. Unfortunatly, there is a weird paradigm on the team where buddies are paired on lines and if split up, they get moody and somehow managment abides at the cost of success.

Lindgren is fine at 3rd pair D. When healthy he should be a 2nd pair D. By no means should he be a 1D which he's been camped out at with Fox since day one.

His contract increases, seniority and friendships in the room, and upcoming status as a (currently) 3rd pair D just arent fiscally responsible for NYR.

Useful player in the right role. Most likely needs to be a free agent and have his salary hit go to market and be reset. Im not sure its prudent to bring him back next year and attempt to negotiate a lower salary. Too much flack from that grenade with the fragile state of the roster this season.

Great 1 season rental. No doubt.
Otherwise, his production warrents a salary reset in the free market.

That said. Hes a sandpaper player and 100% effort every shift. Its just a matter of are his injuries hampering his already maxed/limited athletisism. And, is he being truthful with the trainers about his pain tolerance and limitations. Which isnt fair but at the same time admirable and speaks to his mindset as a winner.
