Always loved how he played (back in Dallas). He would complete the 3rd line and make the Oilers a royal pain in the arse to play against - Lucic, Maroon, Draisaitl, Kassian, Pitlick, Pouliot, Hendricks, Slepyshev

2017 3rd? Oilers could probably eat a small dump too (not Stoner)

The Garbutt now isn't the same as the one back in Dallas, sadly.

Garbutt wouldn't be a good fit on the Oilers at all because we simply have better bottom 6 options and he's another LWer who will play behind Lucic, Maroon, Pouliot, Pitlick, Hendricks, etc.

Cheap contract and nasty player who can put the occasional puck in the net. We are not looking to trade him. If we`ll be out of the PO by deadline then this trade could happen

ANA is in tight with the cap, no reason for them to move out a cheap 3rd/4th liner. Plus why would we help them get cap relief in the slightest by trading a pick for him?

Most importantly, why do we want him? We're happy with our own. Pitlick and Slepyshev have looked great. We also have Khaira and Caggiula (when he's healthy) pushing for spots eventually.

We have good chemistry in our bottom 6, why mess with it?

Garbutt and Vermette are like the only bottom 6 forwards that deserve to be there right now. No chance we're giving up Garbutt.

Garbutt was also a LOT more chippy with the Stars - really pissed a lot of fans off in that playoff series. Toes the line a lot more these days, but he's got good hustle.

The Oilers don't need Garbutt with the other players on our team. I'm not certain that he would even be in our lineup with the way Pitlick has played so far this season. Absolutely no reason for either team to do this deal.

Ducks forward core ain't that good not trading Garbutt who has a cheap cap hit of $900,000 and is a solid bottom 6 NHL forward.

This thread might as well be locked. Makes no sense for either side, ANA needs cheap forwards. EDM doesn't want to help out their cap situation.

We'll stick with our guys.

Why would they want him. Garbutt has always played on the line and can cost his team at times with dumb penalties.

Plus we are overflowing with depth wingers with Pitlick and Slepshyev playing pretty well in addition to Maroon, Kassian, Lander and Hendricks, Pakarinen, Caggiula who are injured and Pulau who likely goes back to the AHL.

No need for him.

He's actually not that kind of player anymore. He's toned down his dirty play and has become quite an effective 4th liner who can pot in some goals.

Still don't need him. We've got our own guys.

The OP proposed a draft pick for him, that gives ANA cap relief. Zero interest in helping out ANAs cap situation.

You guys aren't about to move out a cheap forward either.

Trade Garbutt then someone needs to replace him on the 23 man roster so cap relief is little if anything so not helping us out especially when we lose a veteran forward.

Exactly why it makes no sense for either side.

No way you guys are moving a cheap forward when you just need to fill that position. It's redundant.

Wasn't saying you should get him. Just correcting the previous post about Garbutt's play. And we wouldn't get much cap relief when we would just have to replace him anyways. It's a deal that neither teams needs.

Garbutt is actually one of the best things about the Ducks bottom six. Still can't believe I'm saying that given my previous dislike for the guy.

He's toned down what made him a liability while remaining a useful depth forward and can score once in a while. Like someone else said, if the Ducks' season goes down the drain by the deadline, sure, he's probably expendable but for now they need him.

Let's revisit in 3 months. Garbut has changed for the better since leaving Dallas. He rarely takes the stupid penalties he was know for originally and has been a sparkplug for our bottom 6. His contract is already retained, too, so he's helping (or at least not hurting) our cap situation at the moment. I could see him going at the deadline if he continues to play well. Kerdiles may be able to make an impression by then to take his spot (if he can stay healthy).

Garbutt is very underrated. Great skater/motor, get's under the other teams skin, has an above average scoring touch for a bottom 6'r and comes up big in clutch moments. I'll admit coming over from the Hawks I wasnt expecting much but I see him as a championship caliber 3rd liner that can even help out on the top 2 lines when needed.

I'd like to see them extend him for at least two more seasons, especially if they can get him ~1.25 mill.

I know the Oilers don't NEED Garbutt but I think he completes the forward lineup - every team will leave the rink black and bruised.

If the Ducks want to save $$$ then how about

Depres(LTIR career done) + Garbutt + 2nd

for

Oilers 2017 3rd (or 2018).
