Collins is another college kid. That doesn't surprise me. Like I said with Milano, I think we are wanting kids with a lot of potential who are also going to college which helps spread out when our prospects will be turning pro some.


Collins is the type of defenseman we needed. Not the guy I wanted, but a good pick.

2: With the selection of Ryan Collins, the Blue Jackets have selected two players from the U.S.A National Team Development Program. The Jackets selected Sonny Milano with the 16th overall pick. This number also represents the number of medals that Collins earned as a member of the USNTDP in the World Championships and World Juniors.

So it looked like Columbus was trying to move up from their 47th to draft Collins. Jarmo and company didn't think they had a chance at him at 47th so they're quite pleased with the pick.
