a good display of his lack of speed/explosiveness. It's the only thing holding him back right now, if he ever gains 1 mph, Michkov will have a HUGE jump in his offense. I've said it before, but his speed issue is the difference in him being "just" a consistent all star level player or a consistent MVP candidate at his peak.

Powerskating program should be his only focus this coming summer.

You can be a superstar without being fast. He controls the game in the offensive zone where agility more important than speed. Even this season he could have had much more points if his teammates capitalized chances he created for them. I'm pretty sure he'll play with players one day who are more or less on the same page with him IQ wise, and then he's a perennial 100+ point player. Of course if he had Makarov's speed he would have probably scored 100 points this season, but alas he hadn't.

On the other hand with Makarov's speed he would have being a different player. Why do you even need that IQ if you're blazingly fast? So yeah, it's hard to say what would be better for him.

Yes I agree, but lack of speed is pronounced when you also don't have size. It's a testament to his excellent IQ, vision and his hands that he is producing well as a rookie, but I don't believe he will reach his highest potential with his current speed.

His skills are already top standard, just needs that slight additional explosiveness to be able to fully control play and take advantage of all his tools.

It can be fixed, and once it is fixed....he will be an offensive dynamo and will not even need other high IQ linemates to score. He will make bad players average, average players good, and good players great. He will be able to dominate the ice at will by himself. I have that confidence because his skill package is rare for the NHL, truly rare.

How are Farkas and McCagg doing these days? Wonder if they have updated their (hilariously wrong) opinions?
Has Michkov dragged the Flyers into a playoff spot? They’re doing a lot better than many thought. And imo he’s why. He’s making big plays at key times. That’s what the difference making superstar players do. Still hard to understand why this guy didn’t go a lot higher in his draft. Flyers are so fortunate those clubs picking before them passed. He’s incredible.

Michkov has been as expected and is having an incredible teenage rookie season but as far as dragging goes, Konecny has low key been having an incredible year. I can’t be bothered to look it up but he’s accounted for a huge percentage of the Flyers goals and has been a part of quite a few Michkov points

It's more TK and Sanheim, honestly. But Michkov has been incredible. No denying that

Clutchkov won it again. He didn't care about parayko getting on him, lots of players would start worry and think about taking any sort of shot there, he still proceeded to make his shot, same with that pass to Tippet, he waited for Broberg to get up from his knee and then just slid the puck right after to Tippet. All gms who passed on this kid should be fired into the moon, effin idiots.

Yup, it's easy to see how lethal Michkov already is with extra time and space (when he scores all those unimpressive points), and with the Flyers starting to show some life he's way more active 5 on 5. If he gets just a bit faster, he'll have that extra space and time all game.

Michkov's little plays are a joy to watch. His passes look so precise and easy to handle.
