The michkov glazing is getting out of control lol
It is getting out of control, I agree.

Yes the 6 points in 3 games is good, but the hype is not only from that. A bigger factor is how he stands out when compared to the flyers' best players like Konecny, Couturier, Tippett. These aren't superstars but they are all good and established NHL players, yet the skill level difference between them is wide, VERY wide.

i remember when jon sim had 13 pts in the preseason for the flyers 05-06

Points mean nothing. He scored just one goal in the rookies game, and people were crazy about him because he created half a dozen chances for his teammates. It's what actually matters: every time he has the puck there is the feeling that something beautiful is going to happen right away. It's worth more than any pre-season points and goals.

How was this even a discussion Michkov, Bedard Celebrini class of their own. Demidov a level or two below. Which is still elite. But question answered

Demidov will be a 100+ point player in the NHL...

Kaprizov would have Kucherov numbers if he played with players like Hedman and Stamkos.

Yeah, he was like at the pace for 130 points when played with EEK and Boldy. If Minnesota resigns him and then Yurov comes he will have a chance to prove that he isn't that far behind Kuch if behind at all.

Couple problems with this assertion

1. Michkov is 5 years younger than Kap was when he came to the NHL

2. Minnesota had 20% of their cap tied up in dead $ for vast majority of Kaprizov’s tenure

How dumb does one have to be to bet on where a guy is drafted? There are people who actually have inside information here, and I'm guessing you were not one of them.

I’ve made a lot more money than I’ve lost betting on the draft over the years. It’s an event sportsbooks routinely lose on as it’s incredibly hard to stay on top of the latest info and have a better sense of things than the biggest fans and draft analysts. I made thousands betting that Marner would be drafted under 4.5 because I was certain the Leafs with Mark Hunter valuing skill would never pass on him, for a more successful example. Nothing is guaranteed but you are weighing the probabilities and winning ~55% of the time is profitable. Thanks for your condescending advice though!

Agreed, it’s not the points it’s how he’s doing it, he coulda had 4 more points in his last few games. It’s like almost every time he touches the puck something magical happens lol.

I think he may be one of the league leaders in high danger passes this season.

I’ve also been watching his defense closely and he’s aware and responsible in the D-zone. Plus he’s had some beautiful zone exits to top it off.

I don’t see any way he isn’t a top 2 scorer on the team this year tbh

He's on PP1 and already you can see he's the straw stiring the drink on a PP that was completely dead last year. He's going to rack it up on the PP, he's gonna inflate so many guys stats too lol.

Matvei Michkov is on the same level as prospect as Connor Bedard. They both dominated the same way. And now everbody sees it.
80+ points seems very reasonable this year. Michkov might even have more points this year than Bedard, cause he is on a better team.
Michkov will be the next russian superstar close to the level of Kucherov/Malkin, but at least Panarin or Kaprizov level.
As an austrian I already said last year, how stupid Montreal was to take an austrian d-man over him. Even though I like Reinbacher.

Michkov is one of the very rare guys who have such a high hockey iq they are always (seemingly) ahead of everyone else on the ice. The puck comes to these players because they know where it’s going. Then these super smart players add that they know where all the other players are going to be too. Guys like Michkov will make plays that are just unbelievable because very few people see the game as he does. I can’t wait to see him live so I can watch him away from the puck. That’s the only way to really understand how good guys like this truly are.

Yeah, a teenage rookie on a new continent that speaks a different language and a different culture, in the best league in the world…I doubt he’ll be getting ~80, especially on a middling offense like the Flyers. As a Flyers fan I’d love it but PPG is like Crosby, McDavid territory. I’m hoping for 60-70, which would still be incredible. I just hope Flyer and Michkov fans don’t hold him to impossible standards only to be disappointed when he doesn’t reach them
This is where I’m at . 60 ish

When the kid who set (or was projected to set) historical scoring records in his junior leagues, the U-18s, his brief stint in the U-20s, the VHL, and the KHL, now comes to the NHL preseason and continues producing at an impressive rate, I am inclined to believe that it's just merely a continuation of what he does at every single level of hockey he gets thrown into. The sample size of "Michkov always rises to whatever level he's playing in and produces accordingly" is overwhelming.

Maybe it's just a temporary hot burst against weaker preseason competition, but at this point the burden of proof is on his competition to prove that he's not doing the same thing he always does.
There’s definitely a pattern of excellence

I agree w everything here except the pts projection. So so rare for a rookie to pot 80 . With more support I could see it easier . Possible sure but optimistic imo ( and I’m a big supporter ). He’ll regularly be ppg plus once the surrounding talent improves. I think 60 ish would be a strong debut

It depends on his usage.
With a lot of PP time I see it.
It does not matter if he has 60 or 85 points this year.
He will be a superstar soon. He is a special talent

Wish Habs got him but I'm happy for Philly. They've always been a 'villain' in my books but the league is way better when they are competitive.

Graeme Roustan, is that you? Lol

Michkov’s a rookie tied for the preseason scoring lead. Par for the course.

Besides, it’s not nearly as out of control as were the 12 months worth of hit pieces the Canadian media created to attack Michkov’s character and lessen his draft stock.
